Nothing new here, because I have finished my work at Allmods.

Looks cool, really great that you are interested in making things better.
Have you considered to start work in Lightwave? this pit need some attention to be finished.

Looks good.

I also found this a while ago when I was looking for the KA-50 cockpit.

I'm not sure if these could be used with permission to re-texture the cockpit

This is definitely texture from dcs , so you can not use them.

One big problem it has is its light source. There is no way to use it in dusk or at night, because you really could not read the instruments.

I know it has some other problems too, but this is one of the bigger ones. Maybe it's also possible to make more instruments working like in the Havoc, I don't know.

I really would like to finish it, but I don't have the knowledge for it.

I'm not sure how the cockpit lighting works. I tried adding a lamp to the scene right in the cockpit, but it doesn't change the light level. I don't think the lights in the scene are used.

I just had a quick look in the code, and there's a section in the cockpit code for creating the lighting, so I'll play around with it and see what effect changes have.

Problem is - only one light source presented in the cockpit. you can place several with different angle to affect more panels, as example you can check same code in Clickable Cockpits.

I'll have a look at that. I changed some of the values, and the light got brighter, but only on the pilot. It also seemed to be outside above the cockpit, as the front nose of the helo got brighter as well. I tried moving the light in the scene, but it didn't seem to move it in the game.

btw, it's directional light (the one that hardcoded, I remember firebird told something about placing light source in the Viper scene, but I never used this feature). so you can't move it around, just change direction, and, as a solution, add code for several lightsources with different direction.

Is there a way to work with something like alpha channel in textures?

I know this from MSFS for transparency or reflection options.

This way it was possible to do an illumination effect for gauges or warning lights in some old MSFS Panels, but you had to know which color the alpha channel needs for the corresponding effect.

Yes, you can use TGA with alpha layer, but not sure it can be used for illumination. In the EECH you can apply illumination to the surface in the modeler - it can be several polygons or whole object, but not something that can be controlled by texture.
Lighting is very poor in the game - I did face all these limitations years ago, so some things you may think are not possible at this moment.

Illumination also sucks in this cockpit. Also lighting gauges in photoshop looks dark. Something wrong with light overall.

Yes I've tried this too, to make the gauges as bright as possible, but in the game they are nevertheless getting back to dark.

Even bright white I used only for a test gets to medium gray.

.

ie must have surfaces like every reflection? And then it works in eech?
