I'm not working on this anymore and also was never able to make the instruments working for 1.15 or 1.16 by myself.

Hello!

Impressive result indeed! I may give the Mi-28 a try on second thought. Arghhh, I won't have the needles because of no EEAH.
Anyway how do you mod the cockpit textures? I mean : where are the files located and in which format are they written?
The Ka-52 cockpit needs a refresh!

I will upload them, but it's not finished yet. Have to make some fixes and a few other things. This weekend I have no possibility to work on it, so at the earliest this will be at the end of next week.

One problem I have, I don't have a dropbox or something else. Where could I upload the files?

I will try to fix some things at the KA-50 after this, because this pit was never finished. But I don't know if it's possible because its totally different from the Havoc (real 3D, no different textures for day, twilight, night). Maybe after this I also look at the KA-52.

If you want to do something by yourself, you find all the cockpit textures in this folder: "e.g. C:\EECHALL\cohokum\graphics\textures\cockpit" (C:\EECHAll is the placeholder where you have installed your game)

Messyhead is working at the "needles and warning lights problem". I don't know if its necessary to have EEAH installed after this, but its still available at GOG for only a few bucks.

Viper1970, I was not asking for you to work on the Ka-52! I was just asking how I could give a try at improving the textures of the Alligator's cockpit.
I did quite a bit of modding for SFP1/WoV back in the days (released a Grumman A-12 Avenger II, without VC thoug), so that's why I have asked about the textures file format and where they are stored.

I wanted to do some work at the KA-52 anyway, because I thought that the russian helos where a bit unattended in the game, with exception of the MI-24.

Most has done to the US choppers and of course I like them as well, I would like to see some nice looking pits for the russian helos also.

I do this for my personal use mostly, but if someone would like to have the mods I made, I will share them at any time of course.

My work is always only a compromise, because I can do texture work, as I've also done this since many years, but I'm not able to change 3D. I have tried this a few times, but I have no good 3D program, only freeware, and it will take me a long time to learn it.

Then there is also my homepit I have to finish some day, so I would not like to spent all of my free time with learning CAD. There are many others who do a much better job here, but as I screamed that EECH Allmods is dying, I think I have to do what I can to help with the project, too. This is something which is self-evident to me. I would do other work which no one likes to do also, of course if it helps EECH Allmods biggrin .

P.S:

I personaly would prefer to see Blackshark's MI-28N cockpit in the game, because it is much more like the real one, only the second MFD's is missing, but it seems that it is too much work at the moment to finish it.

Yesterday I did a bit of testing and all seemed o.k.

I didn't think that anything could be wrong, because it was only texture work I did, but I have only a Intel graphics card in my laptop so if someone with an ATI or a NVidia card detects graphical glitches, let me know.

Tested the new cockpit textures yesterday on my W10 Asus 504L with a Geforce920 Nvidia GPU.
Once I understood that the all black sides were normal, your mod seemed all right.
Really looks good (even without needles).

Thank's, nice to hear that there aren't any problems. Yes the side walls aren't textured, there are only those air condition blowers.

excellent photos! If I had seen this page before, it had saved me alot of time to make the new MFD's for the russian cockpits. I had only found photos with a view angel from the side and had to correct this with the graphics program, but I will remake the textures for the 3D MFD's using this superb photos now.

Those MFD's are the same which are used in the new version of the KA-52 Alligator cockpit at which I'm also working at the moment. Only thing here is the question, what happend to the periscope the old version of the KA-52 had? If I make a modernized version of this pit should I leave the pericsope like in the original cockpit and is it even possible to integrate the system, whatever had replaced it or should we stay with it and make a compromise concerning to reality?

Maybe we could use both versions of the russian cockpits for the MI-28, KA-50 and KA-52 the old and the new ones. The old cockpits need not so much effort and have only to be reworked a bit. This is mostly texture work to make them a bit better looking, so nothing dramatic. Only the blue version of the KA-50 is a bit more complex even it's also mostly a retexturing of the black cockpit.

I have also thought about a MI-35 (modernized MI-24). A lot of the instruments and the MFD's are the same in all modernized pits, so if I have made those parts once, creating a new cockpit is mostly to adjust the dashboard and the textures and make a matching skin for every fuselage. Don't know how complex it is to realize this in the code. Most weapon system are still there, for a MI-35 we could use a lot from the modern helos like the KA-52 for example.

Only a thought, maybe a little bit crazy and perhaps a lot of work. But this must not be done for the next release, I thought about the future. I'm really not able to decide which cockpits look better, the old blue versions with the older avionics have also their charm.

P.S:

The reworked KA-50 cockpit should be ready for upload next week. I have made many small adjustments to my first version.

What do you mean by what happened to it? I've just tried it in 1.15.2 and 1.15.4 and the periscope works.

You could have 2 versions, like we have the AH64a and AH64d, but it would be quite a bit of work to do, as you'd need to have a new set of cockpit code and models for each.

If you want to create new models, then that's your project to work on. It's not trivial to do it though, as I've found with creating my Blackhawk. Adding MFDs means also adding the code for them. And If you want those new MFDs to have new screens, then they need to be created in the code also. You could just re-use MFD screens from other helos, but if they're not accurate to the real model, then you lose a bit of realism.

That's something I need to now how. Is there a more detailed description of this anywhere? I'm lost in the code but I will try to do my best.

Yes I know, at the moment I do only the models and the textures, haven't played with the code until now, as said I hope that there is or maybe will be a more detailed description in future how to integrate new helicopter cockpits to EECH.

You misunderstood what I meant. I meant the original KA-52 Alligator not the ingame version we already have. The modernized version of the KA-52 has no more periscope and I didn't know what system they are using instead of it now.

Oh sorry. I get you now. They're probably using Flir and EO/DTV instead of the periscope all housed in the optics pod.

I only have the fear to mess things up, because I'm really a bloody beginner with this. Never tried coding except a few easy things in HTML, PHP and Visual basic while my IT retraining seven years ago.

P.S:

I also must do a closer look at the codebase and how things work there to make a seperate part not affecting anything else.
