Way over in Perth, Western Aus...
Hi all,

I am looking for recommendations for books/ebooks ie memoirs/experiences from the "other side" perspective, particularly from Viet Cong or NVA perspective for the Vietnam War, and also particularly from modern fighter/bomber/helo pilots from Eastern Bloc/Russia/Iraq/Mujahadeen etc.

Can anyone recommend any? - they are hard to find...

I've read too many "I was a grunt" or I"I was a chopper pilot" in Vietnam (they are all good though, - not complaining, I like them) or I was a Fighter/Helo pilot in the Cold War/Gulf War/Afghanistan/Iraq and would like to read some perspectives/memoirs/experiences from the other side, rather than just Western.

Regards,

mdwa

I really enjoyed "Red Army" by Ralph Peters. It's not Vietnam, but 80s "Cold War gone hot".

I've read extensively regarding the Falklands Conflict from a British perspective, so Martin Middlebrook's 'Argentine Fight for the Falklands' was a real eye-opener.

cheers

"Lost Victories" from Erich von Manstein is a great read.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Don't know if has English edition, but "Con Dios en el Alma y un Halcón en Corazón" (~"With God in the Soul and a Hawk in the Heart"), is good read - Argentinean pilots memories.
