So I bought a Warthog stick after being a little unsatisfied with my CH Fighterstick as time went on. It's a great stick, but I found that after extended use it was just so lightweight that I never had a good feel for it. This is how I had my setup mounted before:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/por7gbzzpfo813g/IMG_20170524_045623245.jpg

Obviously the Warthog baseplate is massive and would never work with the VESA pole mounts I have here. I'm currently sliding it in between my legs, letting the edge of it dangle precariously and use the sides of my feet to move the rudder pedals. It works... sorta. I bet if I had MFG Crosswinds or something my current method of flying would be much more comfortable. :P But my question here is how can I mount the Warthog stick to the chair arm in a similar fashion to the CH stick? I'm not the best when it comes to thinking up DIY solutions. When I ordered this thing I completely underestimated the size of the base and baseplate. But it's so much better than the CH for me, I gotta make this work better somehow.

Your image is not showing up.... you do know you can remove the stick from the baseplate, right?

Wasn't sure if it wasn't working right for only me or not. Fixed, but I don't feel like uploading it elsewhere.

Also, right, I haven't seen tons of photos of the Warthog stick detached from its baseplate. :P I just have nothing to mount it to or with otherwise right now.

You don't need this - will be need cut and make holes to adapt to your Vesa mount, but give a idea.

Made mine from a bit of MDF.

I'm not quite clear how your CH stuff is connected to your seat. I can see they're clamped onto the arm supports, but what are the HOTAS actually mounted to? Depending on how strong your mount is, you may be able to fashion a platform using MDF.... but then you may want the actual platform LOWER than what it is now as the WH stuff seems taller than the CH stuff.... not 100% sure as I have never owned CH.

The CH stuff is/was mounted by a pair of these and held on with heavy duty Velcro:

The mounts can swivel on the base so it was easy to just swing them up to play or swing out and down to stow them. I'm thinking of getting a double-jointed one so I can swing it laterally and out of the way when not in use, but still have it tight enough that it won't move when I'm using the stick. Something tells me it'll be about half the weight without the baseplate so it should be fine. If I can't do that I was thinking about using some PVC ends and caps if I could find them, hold one end and cap to the VESA mount via Velcro and then mount the Warthog to another cap and end to detach it when not in use.

[EDIT] This is is a still from a video where I got the idea, showing what I mean by using PVC pipe ends.

[EDIT]Well, so much for help here.

Well, for anybody that cares, it turns out that solution, while a neat idea, does not work. That's what I get for not measuring. It's too high unless I cut a fair amount of length off both pieces and probably compromise the stability of the "detachable" portion of the redneck assembly I have here.

Like I said, you'd want the platform LOWER smile

I know I need it lower. Problem is is that I can't put it low enough.

One modder put a plank of wood UNDER the seat, then used that as a basis for the platforms for the HOTAS.

Interesting, but also frustrating, because I can't find what you're talking about. I feel like I'd really like center-stick mounts but it feels like it would be awful cumbersome to keep my chair as a regular chair but with cool stuff attached to it. I really only have space for one chair, after all. frown

Yeah, center-mount is an issue getting in/out of the chair. Side-stick config isn't.

Less than £25 to build this: Centre or side mount

MDF for base
Pond Flange
110mm diameter tubing (standard toilet waste pipe in UK)
110mm top cap
Small sheet of carbon wrap
Cement to half-fill tube (create sturdy base)

Must be really heavy to be that sturdy.

Id guess its about 12-15Kg.:.......with the square baseplate too it doesnt move an inch when the stick is getting thrown around.

So I have an idea of sorts. I'm sticking with the VESA pole mount idea on the arm combined with a VESA adapter plate and a Monstertech HOTAS mount. I'd have to drill some new holes into the plate, but I feel like it could work. I might try to find a detachable VESA mount as well, otherwise I could make the mount arm swing out and out of the way.

Does this sound like a bad idea or a terrible idea? What is the measurement of the Monstertech mounting plate lengthwise?
