If I can only have one accurate pit, it is going to be an F-4, most likely an F-4E. I started down that path with Strike Fighters 2, but switched to DCS World. It didn't make sense to have a dedicated F-4 pit in a game that didn't even have an F-4. I was tempted to model the MiG-21bis or F-86F. The F-5E looked like an even better choice. The F/A-18C would work really well, too. I am tempted to build a generic pit that can be easily adapted by sliding in/out different front panels that have real switches mounted on them and one or more monitors behind them to drive the indicators. Now Belsimtek has announced an F-4E in progress. I am back to planning on making a dedicated F-4E cockpit.

I favour WWI and WWII, but prefer my pit to be multi purpose across both.
I do run a Warthog with KG13 and Slaw pedals so it is quite 109 centric, but on the whole anything I add needs to be generic rather than make specific.
Not that I don't completely admire those that model their pits on particular aircraft.
Nails and his Hurricane for example, absolutely superb smile

What I crave in a fight sim, in order, is:

1 - WWII Pacific Theater (think "1942 Pacific Air War" updated to 2017 standards with a Falcon 4 style dynamic campaign)
2 - Vietnam War (just port Falcon 4 to a Vietnam map with Vietnam War era weaponry, update graphics to 2017 standard)
3 - Korean War (Falcon 4 port with Korean War era weaponry, update graphics to 2017 standard)

My simpit is basic, mainly intended for Oculus Rift VR use.

What I try to built is a universal modern air combat sim pit, which recreates the handling of combat aircraft and helicopters from the 70's until the late 90's.

I'm neither interested in those future stealth fighters nor in WWII or WWI that much. I know this project sounds a bit crazy screwy , but I have already made several advancements to make it come true. At the moment the biggest problem is my RL which costs me a lot of time I rather would like to work at my pit and the only attack helicopter sim which I choose to use for my cockpit has some unfinished things. If no one of the modders will come back to it, I fear that a big major part of my pit could stay nearly useless. I hope the best! notworthy

I would like to fully use it with fighter jets (Falcon BMS) and attack helicopters (EECH Allmods) with most of the systems working.

As things stood at the moment it's even possible to use it with Strike Fighters Project 2 (only inputs, no gauges, lights or MFD) and FSX for military transport aircraft or helos (working MFD's, gauges and radio panel)

I have also nearly no interest in civilian aircraft. I'm a combat vehicle lover biggrin . For other simulators like Steel Beasts Pro or Dangerous Waters I have made a second system (just a simple modified desk) behind the cockpit which has only cheap standard flight controls, rudder pedals and a programable switch box for use with those kind of sims. It could also serve as a "back seat" for the front cockpit if a sim has that feature.

I hope I can finish this project this time, because my first try many years ago got never finished due to RL. Things aren't looking very good at the moment nope

Helos have always struggled these days as dedicated sims as most first shooter games (Battlefield,ARMA) have placeholder Helo cockpits that are easy to fly and shoot.I still have a copy of Gunship here that I started fixing up some TOS missions and textures with but lost the mods and missions on a HD fail..
Looking at Cold War era switches etc next.Doing full scale panels and HUDS is hard work if no one uses them.

Oh yes, Gunship! had so much potential, so sad Microprose did not finished it the way it originally was planned as a real realistic attack helo sim. The also planned Tank Platoon! never made it to the shelves and Gunship! was only finished in a more arcade like state (awful FM, the helos even do not sit at their tailwheels on a landing).

As far as I remember Gunship! was the last simulation of Microprose before they closed the doors. I also ever had the hope for some good mods, but most of them only fixed a few smaller problems and the flightmodel never get realistic even with the mods.

What could we have today if they had both sims finished and made them combinable as they had planned it back those days!

The only good attack helicopter sim we have today is EECH Allmods. I hope that it comes back to life, but at the moment it looks really promissing. I'm still hoping, that it will get something like Falcon BMS is for fighter jets today.
