Now I've been playing this game since it's release, and flight sims in general for some time, but I have a problem in LO-MAC I just can't seem to fix. After takeoff in my A-10, I always spend a few seconds (or minutes) getting my plane trimmed up nicely, but there has always been one thing I never can seem to fix. My plane seems to slow roll to the right. Now, I assumed this was rudder trim, but no, if I let go of the stick for a moment, my plane will begin a roll to the right, and will start to veer off heading. It seems to only go to about 40-45 degrees of bank, of course, that's as far as I've allowed to get! So what have I got here? Is this trim? Is it the wind in game? Or is this a joystick problem? I'm using a Saitek X45, and everything is calibrated correctly, and the stick works fine with every other facet of the game. Help someone educate me!

I know this may sound like a stupid answer. BUT, did you re-do your keyboard so that the throttle isn't ONLY controlling one engine. I remember in the past (perhaps it is fixed now) I had the same problem as you, it turned out that the joystick throttle was set to control LEFT THRUST, not BOTH thrusts, Hopefully this will help.

I also assume you calibrated your joystick in windows.

Could be a joystick centering/calibration may be needed to correct it.

trim... you don't need to use trim for either the A10 or F15... trim is really only necessary with the Russian planes... so to answer your question, it's got to be a Joy Stick problem... to test it, fly strait set your ALT hold on and see where it drifts, it shouldn't if your stick is aligned right.

good luck

I don't think ALT HOLD controls heading or bank of the aircraft.

no it don't but if you alt hold, then keep your hands off the stick, you will be able to see where the drift/problem is.

OT to this discussion: I definitely think trim is necessary in the A-10; I use it to stabilize my pitch when in a dive for weapons release.

Trim is full-on necessary for the A-10.

The F-15 automatically trims itself, the only plane in the game that does this nifty trick.

Thanks for the replies guys,

Dlink: It's not throttle, I had that problem as well. \:\)

What do you guys mean, no trimming the A-10? That seems to be all I do for the first 5 minutes after takeoff....

Sorry about that. I re-read your post after I had sent mine.

It makes sense what you are saying for sure.

I always seem to have to trim the A-10 straight after take-off cause it seems to want to pitch down.

Have you tried flying with no winds to definitely make sure its nothing to do with the weather?

I would have to respectfully disagree with using the trim in the A10, I've flown that plane the most in this sim and have never had to adjust... too me it's perfect flight every time, and never have to struggle with maintaining a direction...

Now when I do dive bomb or use the cannon, I hit the air breaks and lower the flaps to bring the reticle closer to center, but as soon as I'm done, it's fine again without any adjusting.

JMO on the subject.

I have to trim the A-10 and, the Soviet fast movers, and - I think - even the F-15. Well, I don't have to trim the A-10; I could just hold the stick all the way back and still dive into the ground immediately after take-off, but I choose to trim it out (so I can get shwacked later in the mission!).

You need to put in a bit of dead space in your rudder axis settings in Options. If you are not using rudder peddles then consider deadspace with your joystick roll axis as well. I believe this is mentioned in the V1.02 Read Me file.

How old is your stick? It could be the pot (potentiometer) is in need of replacement. Radio Shack would be a good place to visit if you don't have another electronics store in town.

I was just going to say but Stormin beat me to it. I had the same problem and deadspace fixed it up.

Thanks Stormin, I'm going to check that out now!

Edit: That did the trick, thanks again!
