Just wondering if any of you SimHQ photographers were able to get any eclipse shots with your gear? I'm in Florida so we goat about a 3/4 eclipse. I went outside at around 2:50p.m. I certainly could tell a difference! It was almost as if someone turned the ol' contrast knob up. Everything had a tinted look to it. Shadows were blacker and more refined. Our trees, especially the palms, were casting shadows full of tiny little crescent shaped lights. I did not have the special glasses but I was briefly able to just barely glean the crescent shape but just barely. Didn't want to look right at it for too long nor could I lol. I probably spent a good twenty minutes or so out there until I could see the crescent shadows disappearing. I have a cousin on Facebook who posted a picture. I think they are in D.C.?? but they had a nice single cloud cover the sun for them and the sun cast black rays around the cloud! Pretty cool.

Wow cool shots. Thank you for sharing. I need to go look up some video of folks within the full zone to see how that looked. Probably pretty neat to see the day grow dark and low light and then come out of it.

Kind of a clone of what I posted in the Community Hall, but I'm a whore for attention:

My son actually pulled off not looking like a complete dork with his on.

Must take after his mother:

Pin hole effect caused by the leaves of a little tree in the Walmart parking lot in Athens, TN.*

The obligatory totality shot:

The cone is pretty small, really. Here's a quick shot at the horizon during totality:

[Linked Image]

Poor bastages not only didn't get totality, they had cloud cover. Totally clear for us!

"Diamond ring" on the other side of the eclipse:

[Linked Image]

Totally worth the adventure of the journey getting there, which including staying the night before (and after) in Chattanooga. Alcohol sales in bars on Sunday! Sign me up for the sinful activity!

* Yes, we were in the WalMart parking lot, because, well, of course we were.

Really nice shots Dart. That must have been amazing to see. The "diamond ring" is just something else, wow.
