Thought I had heard all there was on the Titanic, but just heard something completely new. Seems there was a significant coal fire in one of the bunkers and it may have contributed to the sinking by weakening the steel and bulkheads.
The program on the Smithsonian channel mentioned that many of the stokers and firemen that made the trip from Belfast were so concerned about it that they did not continue the trip to New York. But I haven't found anything substantiating that.
Interesting.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.
I thought that the fire in the coal bunker was well known, certainly I have known of it for quite a long while. Off hand just now I can't remember which bunker it was tho
