As a kid, we would go to Satuday Matinees, and quite often it was a Jerry Lewis movie. Black and white. RIP

His movies weren't my cup of tea, but what a great guy for his work with the kids. The news said he raised over 2 billion dollars for his charity during his life. That's amazing and a heck of a legacy.

Jerry was something else - he gave us so much laughter, so much entertainment and through his fund raisers and charity gave even more. A remarkable person .... surely a "one of kind"

+1 Haggart.

I can't remember the name of the movie but there was a movie he did that was set during WWII where he was somehow responsible for losing a USN destroyer and so the government made him pay for it. LOL

That sounds like a hoot lol. He could generate some moments that just have me in tears. At the same time depending on the scenario it could get on my nerves lol simply because he seemed like especially early on one of those people who had insane energy that had to be fed. His routines though where he gets into his physical comedy and his facial expressions just get me laughing and caught of guard. A very therapeutic thing and I think that's what his heart of hearts wanted. To make people laugh and bring them joy. When I saw Nutty Professor as a kid there's a few things that happened. First of all the blonde girl student of his was just WOW for me even as a kid. The scene in which he transforms really, really scared me. How they filmed it with his Myna bird watching and how the colors and sounds were and how he looked just creeped me out bad as a kid. Then once he transformed, I though his character was just sooo cool. He definitely had that smooth, Dean Martin, rat pack suave about him in his blue suit and cigarette skills and was so good with the ladies at that point. Great stuff. My Dad teaches voice and still uses one of Lewis' famous lines as a teaching tool and exercise because of what actually he was able to accomplish with his vocal chords when he would say "Hey Laaaaadyyy".

I hope that somehow, somewhere, he and Dean Martin are young and laughing together again.

What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen
