I have been on an unplanned hiatus from DCS since May. Real world and life got in the way. Last week, I had time and wanted to get back into the Hog so
I fired up DCS. BUT IT TOOK FOREVER TO OPEN. I had a 35 - 40 minute window so I declined the program update. Went to ME and it took 25 minutes to open. Then it stopped responding when I tried to save a mission that I created. Because it was non responsive, C-A-Deleted and restarted DCS. I went to missions this time and it stopped responding again. Later, I tried again and let it takes its time. Eventually in spite of non responsive delays I did get into the air. Now, it becomes non responsive for 10-15 minutes whenever I try to save a created mission or open a saved mission or add planes to a mission. Is anyone else having problems? I have an i7-4760K @4.0. With 16 megs on board running win 7 pro. Prior to this, I never had these kinds of delays. Any thoughts?

What version?

Tried repair function?

If this just suddenly happened with no changes to DCS, it might be something else causing the issue. Maybe DCS doesn't like an updated Graphics Card driver for some reason?

You can also try to make a separate install to test the latest update and see if it runs any better. If it does, then copy over your old profile settings, missions, etc and remove the original install.

Que, I have the same setup as you, no problem with DCS, so far. However a few months I did have the same problem and as Excoret posted try repair function, and also make sure your video card drivers are up to date, that did it for me.

Good luck.

@Exorcet, I have the latest version. It's 2.1.1xxxxxxx . But not tried repair yet. I just updated to it a couple of days ago hoping that would help. @Taxman I will try the repair. I don't remember how to get to it. But I will look it up. I should have the latest drivers already installed to the Zotec GTX1060 w6GB. I applied it a couple of weeks ago. I went ahead and picked up a larger SSD and I have new 2Gig internal HD to install for my work. Thanks for your help, I'll keep you posted.

The repair function should be available in the Eagle Dynamics section of your Windows Start menu. If it is not you can force it from the Windows Command Line/Powershell by using SHIFT+Left Click in the DCS\bin folder and executing the following from within the Command/Powershell window.

DCS_Updater.exe repair

Alright, i just did the repair. Thanks cichlidfan. I realized also that it is DCS World 2 that is giving me problems. I may not have been clear on that. I tried the DCS World and it is doiung the same. So I updated it and will try it as well. If that doesn't fix it , I'll do a repair on it as well. I'm about to try DCSW2. Fingers crossed.

Well, so far the load times on DCSW2 are drastically shorter but ME still takes a little while. I created 2 missions and loaded them. I did not save missions. I used an AI to pilot. No other planes were added. It loaded and flew. I tried DCSW. It loaded in a more like normal, a shorter period. Went to ME Which openned without too much delay. Again it had an extended load time, but only a little longer than before the problems began. But this time I tried to open a mission . It stopped responding.
I ALT-Control-Deleted and closed the program. I'll try to open a savbed mission or to save a mission in DCSW2 -- ME tomorrow and see what happens. That's it for now. Gotta get ready to for the morning. Thanks guys.

So the trouble started the moment you hit the download button on the dcs website?

My trouble with DCS started well before that......the 1st time I hit the link back in 2010, the DCS website wouldn't load......I should have taken the hint from then that there would be issues with this so called 'sim'

I remember when the trouble first started. There was a bright light, some crying, and a guy in a lab coat hit me.

I checked and DCSW2 NTTR nor DCSW will not open a saved mission nor save a created mission or its changes. It just hangs up and becomes unresponsive.
AS much as I don't want to I think that I'm going to re install both. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Ice, although the general idea is reasonable from philosophical point of view, your reply doesn't quite help the guy with his particular tech issue, does it?

Que, no need to reinstall anything. Repair script itself might not help if the problem is caused by some leftover files from old modding, corrupted personal settings etc. To get the game back to "stock" state without reinstalling, I would run a cleanup script first - go into the bin folder, open the shell window (Shift + Rightmouse -> "open shell window here", or whatever it's called in English) and use "dcs_updater cleanup" command. That will detect and remove any non-default things from the game directory. Then I would remove the whole content of DCS folder from the C:\Users\(your profile name)\Saved Games location, backing up only Config\Input subfolder for later (your control assignments are stored there). That will erase all your personal settings and data (if you're crazy about saving your logbook and campaigns progress, you can also find and backup the logbook.lua file, which is stored somewhere over there as well). Just to be on the safe side you could then run a repair again, although if you did it once, it shouldn't be necessary. Procedure for 2.1.1 is the same.

Keep in mind, after doing all of the above, the first run of mission editor in 2.1.1 will take much longer than in 1.5.7 (cause both payware maps need imperial crapton of files more to stuff into the memory) and the mission itself will take waaaaaaaay longer to load ('cause the 2.1.1. gfx engine must rebuild all the shader files from scratch for the first time). However, both shouldn't take more than 3 minutes total I think, certainly not 30!

Hahaha!! That is indeed true. My apologies to the OP.

Glad to see that it isn't just Falcon that is requiring "the dance" now though! Hope your little jig works for him! biggrin

Oooops, you must've mistaken me with someone else, because I don't make skins for any sim platform, even though for years I've been telling myself that one day I should start learning the damn Photoshop or Gimp beyond standard cropping and resizing of my photos biggrin.

The procedure I described is actually quick - takes much less time (few minutes tops) than it took me to write that damn post above in a non-native language wink. Certainly requires only a tiny fraction of time needed for reinstalling the whole thing from scratch, hence my suggestion.

Art_J, Sorry for the mix up. I tried the updater cleanup. 1.5 seems alright. I haven't had a chance to completely check it out. Not sure about 2.1. I'll be travelling for a moment. Will check when I return. Thanks for your help.

Cannot find a Ch HOTAS profile for this sim anywhere.

I want a simple profile to play FC3,no fancy buttons just simple but with the realistic flight model.

Like sims in the 90s.

But I wouldn't know how to start.

Manual is just a brain overload.

I have had DCS World sit on my hds in my old and now new Ryzen build gathering dust as I can't use my CH HOTAS with it.

Any brainiacs out there can help me?

I live in Melbourne ,Australia,Richmond Tigers fan.

Anyone with teamspeak who can go along the controls with me without me cutting my wrists, would be most grateful.

Richmond playing tomorrow night,98k at the MCG,Cmon boys!

Who cares for AFL, support the Storm.....Cameron Smith for PM

See Here

Create an account, message Hells and he will get you sorted. Hosts the DCS servers from his house, no point mentioning me though, I don't roll with 'em

Or try the AEF guys. Probably more players than ATC mate.

AEF guys
