Didn't there used to be a competing XM provider other than Sirius? I could have sworn there was, but now I forgot the name - or maybe I imagined it.

As far as I know, and I still subscribe...there is only Sirius/XM

Not thinking of Pandora, are you? Just renewed my XM for the car last month and went through my usual routine.

Me: " I would like to cancel my subscription please."
Them: " I'm sorry to hear that. Could you tell me why?"
Me: "Well, I'm retired (true) and don't drive as much anymore, plus living on a fixed income, it's a bit of an extravagance."
Them: " How about we give it to you for 50 per cent off?"
Me: "Well, I suppose I can manage that"

I've been doing that for the last 5 years. Works everytime. I do add the internet version for full price. I think it was $4.95 a month. I have an old Ipad connected
to my stereo, I play it through.

Nope, not Pandora - I don't think they broadcast through XM.

Okay, here's a big "DUH" from me! biggrin It was actually just called "XM Radio." Here's a story about the merger of Sirius and XM Radio:

Good idea. I've done that with Dish before...lol.

I guess I'm glad that both of my car radios (not built in) have ten channels to switch around when there is talking. Sometimes I have to flip through 3-4 to find music. And I guess to be fair, when they do talk it's usually only for about 30 seconds...but still, all I want is music! wink It's still top down Jeep weather and I don't want talking when I pull up to a stop light...lol.

I cancelled my XM 3 subscriptions recently.(2 cars &online)
What kept me over the years was Opie &Anthony. With both of them fired now, it's not worth it for me anymore.
I really enjoyed the uncencored talk show.

I have 5500 songs om my phone, I don't need music channels.

With the plethora of free\subscription options like Pandora, Spotify, and podcasts; I don't have any reason to use satellite radio. It's the same with cable\satellite TV; 10,000 channels and I listen to\watch maybe 5. You also have no control over what you listen to (besides constantly channel surfing), as the cable\music industry still has the most control over what is force-fed to you.

It's a waste of money, at least for myself.
