Hi,
I bought it two days ago, and decided to do a video so folks could see what PoA-2 is all about. Reason why is that some time ago when I first found out about PoA-2, I was wishing someone would put out a video, or more video content would be out, so here you go! The Idea is to do more in a hands on training format...

Serious question: Does anybody enjoy playing this and if so, what is it? I've had it for a while now and I'd claim I 'get' it enough to play, but while this latest beta speeds things up to a degree that makes some scenarios at least playable, it still feels like watching grass grow to me. The tutorial scenario is also pretty much the only one that kind of 'flows', anything bigger and you'll wait ages for every turn that brings seemingly random events of perfectly modeled chain gun salvos from highly abstracted units and (by today's standard) laughably crude terrain modeling and pathfinding. The tutorial is literally the only scenario I've ever finished, and the ones I quit I didn't just quit because they took too long to play out, I quit because the going was so slow and abstract I stopped caring what the outcome would be.
So seriously, I'd love to hear what people enjoy about POA2. There's probably no game I more desperately want to like but so brutally falls short of my expectations. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong or expecting the wrong things.

Hi Amaroq,
Iam afraid your not going to be hable to change how POA2.5 or TU work in the sense of SITREPS (reports/combat reports phase). You can speed up things in the preference menu under performance by putting all the options to "quick" under movment, combat etc resolutions, and by setting to 4 cores your CPU use. Aside from this also think that in POA2.5 you are the CO in command (your the hights in command), your not driving a tank or TC of a tank, so these reports that you get in each turn are vital for you with decision making. It´s not your tipical RTS game were everything happens at once and in real time. Here you have to wait for those SITREPS to come in, decide what you want to do, do it and go throught the SITREP phase again. This also gives you time to think about what you need to do and time to read the SITREP it´s self. It´s a thinking mans game/simulation.
Also take into account that in this game FOW can also work against your own units, beacuse of the SITREPS, if your last report was 4min. ago (you can also see this info if you hover your mouse over your unit), unit might be in move mode and you wont know exactly were its at till the next SITREP is updated. FOW depends on which level of expert you use, in "novice" or other levels, see manual for details.
I´ll be doing another video in short with more detail on how it all works, but in general reports (SITREPS) are what they are and that´s how this game works. Patient is the key...
