JJJ developed a neat app to edit the Pilot Log. It's very easy to use and you don't need to start WOFF to use it. It will let you see all you pilots and edit some information about the missions they flew including the mission descriptions. Just drop the file in the same folder as the mission editor and you can run it by double clicking on it.

I have been thinking at the possibilities a LogBook viewer and editor has. It would be great if this nice little app could show a victory list for each pilot (I mean showing info about the actual downed pilots).

Actually, I have been thinking for a long time that being able to append a detailed mission report would be great in itself.

Thx, guys. Any suggestion for improvement or feature request would be appreciated.
Well, ....now that you ask! A slick claims and mission summary editor would be cool for adding more details after the mission. What do you think?

It is already implemented - you can edit and save mission description after clicking on mission number (left column). The same is valid for kill claims/report . Or, can you be more specific, pls? Thx.

Oh, ok JJJ65. I didn't know I could do that. I will check it out. It may be all I need.
Tnx for the directions.

No, that is not needed to run PilotLogEditor. Just DL PilotLogEditor.jar file (the latest version is 0.7.2), put it anywhere on your PC and run it. That is all.

Yep, sorry, that simple manual was written by OldHat and he was/is not aware that this app can be run without mission editor.

UPDATE:;
JJJ65, I looked at your advice but that is not quite what I mean. I was looking to add quite a bit of text describing the mission but not in the "Mission Type" field. Maybe in a "Mission Report" field. It could be done in the Mission Type field but your application does not currently support multiple lines of data and only displays limited field length even though I can type in more info and it appears to be saved.
I couldn't find a "Kill/claims Report" java applet. Did you create one? If so, it would be nice to see both reports combined.
Look forward to your thoughts and suggestions.
Best Regards

I do not play QC only campaign, so I have to edit when WoFF UE is still in campaign mode
No help needed, just a matter of editing the pilots txt file in the campaign folder, using plain notepad and I can fill in the type of plane/balloon [claim] and the remarks. So that is for me sufficient.
But many thanks for helping and making this mod. While modders, do understand your work is very important for the whole Woff community, please keep on.

Sorry dutch to hear that, something must be wrong. It seems that app crashes during loading of your WOFF pilots list. Probably it can not find your WOFF UE installation

Robert, let me try to describe some of PilotLogEditor functionality :
Entry screen where you can choose your pilot for viewing/editing. You can click on any mission number to see/edit a mission details and/or click on Kills button to see/edit pilot's kills:
After clicking on mission number, a mission description window opens. You can write your mission description/details here:
If you click on Kills number button (located on entry screen), a Pilot kills record window opens:
Select any any kill number or Rejected claim (in L/H column) and respective kill/claim report window appears. There you can edit your kill report/description:
Here is the final output of mission description editing when viewed in WOFF UE:
and here is the result of kill report editing as viewed from WOFF UE:
Thx, guys. Any suggestion for improvement or feature request would be appreciated.
1. (Just dreaming, I guess...)Would it be remotely possible to include a map so that we could (manually)pinpoint the approximate location of our kills? 2. Markmanship statistics? Hit rate %?
Thanks for the helpful explanation JJJ65. It would be a nice feature if you could add a "HELP" option when a person right clicks on an editable field and have that help field display the instructions like you just gave to me. It might help other people.
Just a suggestion... thanks for all your help and the great work you do.

I have noticed it as well. The mouse clicks don't always get recognized. Sometimes I have to close the program and open it again for it to work. It also breaks down when switching from one pilot to another - information doesn't refresh and I see the previous pilot's stats. Probably an interface glitch.

I have a video demonstrating my efforts uploading now and will post it here as soon as it finishes.

Robert and Fullofit do you have manually edited Log and/or Claim files? If so, can you send me, pls, one file as a sample for testing? I am suspicious that some file/string formatting can cause the PilotLogEditor does not work properly. The best would be if you can send me a dossier, claim and log file of one of your pilot, that PilotLogEditor can not open/display properly. Thx for support and debugging/testing.

On many requests from fellow woffers I have added to Pilot Log Editor new feature allowing pilot to transfer between different countries and/or units. So, if you want your US pilot flying for France to continue his campaign at Aero squadrons, it is possible now. Download WOFF UE Pilot Log Editor 0.8.3. Instructions included in attached pdf file. Enjoy!

YES! This will be a game changer, in particular for those of us who start as a Yank with the Lafayette Escadrille and want to move to one of Uncle Sam's squadrons. Thank you Jara for yet another update to an already super mod.
Jara, would this development make it possible to edit the medal system in WOFF? For example, the RNAS and RFC should have different medal rules, and some of the RFC rules should be corrected (for example, different medal eligibility for NCOs and officers). If this is possible and if I can be of any assistance to you in researching the medal eligibility, please let me know.
This is super! Thank you very much for this addition to the pilot log editor.
Somewhat off topic but still important: May I raise a point of order? As far as I am aware, Jara has not yet been given the honour of being inducted into the Barmy OFFers club. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this honour than Jara, considering how much he has added to everyone's' enjoyment of WOFF through his marvelous software tools (and pleasant online persona).
Lou, would you be so kind as to correct this oversight? Surely everyone has had time by now to have recovered from the latest induction ceremony!

Triple J, that's awesome! Now we can have Germans def ... defecate ... defect! Defect, that's the word! I'm with Raine, if something can be done about how the medals are awarded that would be nice. I just had a pilot awarded Military Cross after his 2nd career mission.

He seems like the type who'd bring his own cricket bat, probably a better one than the old one.
Let's pretend I got the BWOC badge to embed here.

...would this development make it possible to edit the medal system in WOFF?
We can not modify the medal system - that is hard coded inside of WOFF. However, what we can is to edit/delete/modify awards received. This idea looks quite interesting to me. If you are interested, Raine, we can discuss about that via PM.

Sorry, Fullofit, defection is prohibited (I have disabled this possibility in LogEditor code). But defecation... that is individual and another story .

@BuckeyeBob Thank you for nomination to BOC, however, I am not sure if I fulfill its criteria. My Czech barminess would be OK, but my English is great barrier to be (actively) barmy here .

Jara, I can assure you that your English would not be a problem at all, and might even add a bit to your Barmyness! As inebriated as this group tends to be, no one would even notice if you lapsed into speaking Czech every now and then. You could even teach them a couple of Czech drinking songs!
Finally, if you are afraid that you might not be Barmy enough, just quote any of a number of lines from Monty Python or Black Adder, and no one will notice any difference!

Edited: for some reason I cannot open the.jar executable now, it doesn´t return an error message it just stays unresponsive.
I experience the same problem at my home gaming computer, but on my programming computer it works like a sharm. Let me check it and I hope to release hotfix ASAP.

Jara, I have noticed something strange in the Log Editor. I was updating some of the biographical information for some aces and in the Encyclopedia it shows but in the Log it doesn´t, even after closing it and opening again. It happens on different pilots, but not always....
Good catch Aris!! Only you would have caught that.

After modifying xxKill.txt, xx.txt (bio) or xx.bmp, this is what I have got. I have to do it every time I modify a bio, a victory list, or a bitmap, otherwise the Encyclopedia won´t show the info. There are hundreds of pilots in the database with "missing" txt files, but the Encyclopedia or the Log editor simply overrides them , as it always happens with the xx.Craft.txt.

Thx Robert for his idea, mod and close cooperation; 2) Created Pilot Log Editor exe file so you can now easily create a shortcut on your desktop; Enjoy!

Later today I will have both the mod and the Java applications packaged up and sent to BuckeyeBob for inclusion on his mods server. You can get it there.

I am pleased that you are thinking of me, Robert, but I think you mean Sandbagger's webpage.
Congratulations to both of you on the medal mod to the pilot log editor. This is a very nice addition. Now if only one of my pilots would last long enough to earn some of that bling!

Oops, I stand corrected...AGAIN! It serves me right for not waiting until I have had my morning cup of Java.

Aris, look at the ReadMe file that came with the latest version. It states you need to run the Medals Mod as active in JSGME in order for the Pilot Log to work properly. Sandbagger doesn't have the mod up yet, but I can make it available here for now.

Thanks for the update. Good Old Windows deleted the file after the download, claiming it contained a virus. I'm too tired to fight with it. I'll wait for Sandbagger to post it. Cheers!

I'm trying to reconstruct missions lost due to a series of computer problems forcing me to reinstall the game. When I recreate the lost missions it puts them in that order, no matter what the dates or the mission numbers on the left. Is it possible to change the order of the missions so they show up in the order I originally flew them?

PilotLogEditor loads data from WOFF's pilot Log files in the same order (sort by date). I do not understand your problem. What pilot's data do you use to restore your logbooks?
I keep my own log separately. When I had this PC problem happen I used the data I had written in my own log to recreate each pilot. Of course the recreated pilot in WOFF has no career listed. Whereas a pilot may have 140 hours behind him, the new WOFF log only shows the 4 or so hours I've flown since starting him over. I can recreate the mission, start it and then exit, and then add the details using the Log Editor, but it places it after the missions I'm flying now. The older recreated missions show up after the recently-flown missions.

AHA! I didn't realize that just having the correct dates wasn't enough, that I had to physically move the lines to the proper order. That did the trick! The others are right - you are a genius!
Thank you so much.
