I'm kind of bummed why he didn't call someone so they could use the meat, I would assume someone could have used it instead of just tossing it?

Quote
hunter in southern Alabama bagged and tagged the trophy animal of his life when he discovered an 820-pound wild hog on his front lawn.

He discovered Cruiser barking at the massive wild hog, which was about five yards from his family’s front porch.

"Cruiser had this huge hog confused with all of the barking and movement," Wade continued. "It was not a good situation."

Fearing the worst, Seago grabbed his .38-caliber revolver and went back onto the front porch.

Having rid the planet of my share of feral hogs, that's great! Those things are a menace. Good riddance.

They're so bad we've got people shooting them from helicopters.

Edit: looks like he killed it and it hung all night in this heat.... I doubt the meat was any good.

Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Matthew 5:11

Indeed we call blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, because “the Lord is compassionate and merciful. James 5:11

As I understand it, you have to be pretty careful with wild hog meat. Brucellosis is a real concern.

Is that bigger than Hogzilla ? It says he killed that with a .38 handgun. That must have been a good shot and a heavy +P round.

Bill Duke could have killed it by just using his KBAR fighting knife and nothing else.

Actually, it's the fact that it is a boar that would make the meat inedible. A large sow would be fine to eat, but once a boar gets to about three months of age you can't eat the meat. Well, you could, it just wouldn't taste good. It has to do with testosterone levels.

We had tenderloin from a large sow for Christmas dinner several years back. Marinated it, cooked over an open fire....it would just melt in your mouth.

I would have figured that even a hot .357 Mag hardcast would be inadequate for a hog that size, let alone a .38...
