Also not many left if they keep falling.
I hate the loss of any WWII warbird, but there are 138 flying Mustangs in the US alone and even more being restored to flight condition. And there is a company in California that can build you one from scratch, given a few million bucks.

Oh my, the guy at the gas station across from the air field, that told me about it, said he didn't see the name of the plane, but he said it was aluminum with a yellow front. Jeez, hope it wasn't "Baby Duck". Yeah, killed two, his passenger was a really sweet looking airport manager. Died very young. Not good news, and seems to get worse..........

Jeez, hope it wasn't "Baby Duck".
It was. The tragedy is that "Baby Duck" was an actual combat veteran.

Very sad. Loss of two lives and one rare warbird.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Sad for sure.
Any word on why the crash?
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Sad for sure.
Any word on why the crash? None yet but from the impact and destruction it does not look like it was controlled in any way. Wheels
