I have both. Hated the controller, but I'll give it another shot sometime. I use a 360 controller with the Link that I like more. I do want to try the Steam one for some games that aren't already controller supporting. I have a remote control sized wifeless keypad that's useful on the Link too. https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Key...-11&keywords=remote+control+keyboardLove the Link! It's best used on 5GHz since it needs the extra bandwidth to play really smooth. 2.4GHz just doesn't quite do the job, but it will work if you have a good signal to maximize it. I'm down a bar on 5GHz, but it still plays fluidly.

If you are used to an Xbox controller, it will be really difficult to transition to the Steam Controller. The difference is the design focus. The Xbox controller was designed for playing games on consoles (duh!), but the Steam Controller was designed primarily to provide a controller option for games designed for a mouse and keyboard, and therefore requires programming. Thing is, there are very few of those M&K exclusive games, as most games already come with a controller setup in mind, so using an Xbox controller is so much simpler and works out of the box. If you have never had a controller before, it will probably grow easier on you. Until you try an Xbox controller, and then you will forget about using the Steam controller .

Yeah, it feels really cheap compared to the 360 and X1 controllers. Oddly enough, the *wireless* X1 controller isn't supported on the Link but the 360 wireless dongle is. I think the wired one is fine, but I don't do wired on that thing. I got the Steam controller hoping it would somehow feel ok for RTS games, but that's a little much to expect.

I had the Link when it released last year(or is it 2 years now?) it had some latency and sound problem back them but now they seems to be fixed. My PC is in my basement, and I often play upstairs on my TV at the opposide of the house, with WIFI, without any lag.
