"When we arrived at Camp Toccoa 75 years ago this month the camp was in the process of being transformed into an Airborne Basic camp. I made some photos to send home to my mom and dad to show them the type of training the Army was putting us through. I also made some photos of the fellows in our outfit. A number of them did not survive the war."

Excellent pics! Now I feel the urge to watch "Band of Brothers" again.

Same here PM Think I'll read the book 1st..Got the first edition and then tomorrow zone out and watch the movie..Got to respect those men and what they did
Go to Google Earth and you can see the remnants of Camp Toccoa. There is just 1 original building left and a monument. Someone also posted an overlay of the original camp over what looks like a farmers field today.
You can also see the road leading from the camp out to Currachee Mt.. Looks like they had a pretty good run just to get to the base of the mountain.
I used to go to summer camp in Toccoa, GA, every summer when I was a kid for a few years, and had no idea there was an old paratrooper camp just down the road. Neat.
