It's not a direct answer to the question, but if you're looking to control certain features/applications while wearing a VR headset you could try voice recognition.
I use it even without VR as it tends to be easier for me to remember voice commands than keybinds. For non-
HOTAS functions like pulling the gear up, opening and closing doors, or telling AI gunners(in DCS UH-1 Huey) what to do, it works really well(and in a helicopter, allows hands-on flying while doing all of it).
I personally use
VoiceAttack, which can be set up quickly for basic keypress commands, or scripted using built-in actions or even C#/VB.NET for complex systems.
You can download a(non-time limited) trial which allows you to build a single profile with up to 20 commands, so you can get a feel for whether it's something you'd find useful(the full version costs $10).
