I'm sorry Nick I don't know much about that hardware. It does seem like though a better graphics card with more onboard memory would probably make a significant difference in performance. I usually try doing things like forcing vertical sync and tripple buffering in your graphic card's control panel if it has it and also try turning on a frame rate limiter. Are you okay with perhaps a 30fps cap but with consistency and minimal stutter? Nvidia has an option called "Pre-rendered Frames." Sometimes setting that to a different value can remove stutter in some games.(It does so for Witcher 2 for some reason) I have a feeling though a better graphics card would do wonders.

NickM I'm not sure what exactly you would need. I'm not familiar with AMD stuff and I'm not too tech savvy. Try asking in the Hardware forums for a tweaking tool for an AMD card. I don't know if D3DOverrider supports your card or will work but its worth a try..

Maybe MSI Afterburner is better? Seems to support any video card manufacturer.

Nick
If you right click on your desktop a box opens in it is listed Catalylist Control Center that's the settings for your AMD card open that and it should tell you what card you have,,,I'm willing to bet you have an on board video chip.If it's Win 10 unless you specifically looked for it most computers have on board chips
.. I had an AMD 4200HD on board chip before and games ran crappy...A friend gave me a Nvidia 5600 TI video card I installed that and my gaming took off,,But you really need to find out what hardware you're packing before anyone can give you informed help...In win 7 I go to control panel--->System and then there is a system panel that lists ram processor etc,,One other question is this a laptop or desktop?????

Go here to find out how to get your system specs
http://www.simplehow.tips/a/44/how-to-view-system-information-on-windows10
And click on the start button and look for an AMD entry for your video card and open it and see whats there..It's hard offering advice unless we know what your machine has hardware advice

I don't seem to have that in my start menu but I sussed out the following info from my control panel:

Intel (R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @2.66 GHz 2.66GHz
4.00 GB of RAM
32-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Win10 Pro, 32 bit OS

In the graphics adapter portion I found this:

The Graphics card has the following info:
Driver version 8.970.100.9001

I don't know if any of that helps

Go to control panel--System and get to device manager and click on your video card and it will give you the model.....from the start button search for Device manager and click on it..I figure you have an on board video chip...

Good show Nick Looked it up in Google it's not an on board chip but a pci-e card which is a lot better...I had an on board hd 4200 chip and gaming sucked added an NVIDIA card and the frame rates went way up
Here's a review of your card https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/

i went to the ATI site http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
and on the right entered in your card but no win 10 showed up,,,On the left there's an auto detect feature to find the right drivers for your card You are using an 8.970.100.9001,,, That is a real old drivers ,,Ati drivers are now up around the 13.xxxxxx Series ,,,You need a driver up date,,,,Learn how to use google or what ever search engine your browser has and type in simple questions and read a bit,,,You need to get the drivers right for the card and then start tweaking the game..Your system exceeds the required specs,,,
Two things do you have compatibility mode set to Win XP????? Right click on VC Starter __>properties__> compatibility tab set to XP service pack 2,,,Then see what version you have mine is 1.60 Patches are here http://www.vietcong.info/portal/downloads.php?cat_id=7..

Seems like a lot of work but take your time ...Took me awhile to get it running in Win 7 older games are tough to set up in Win 10 I had a bunch that wouldn't run in W 10 so went back to W 7

Well I happen to have 1.65.1 & I can't seem to find the compatibility tab in properties;

Also: I am trying to figure out how to install the 1.70 beta but there are no instructions.

No joy when it comes to VC...so, that's OK for now. I'm sure it will show up on GOG one of these days.

Now...do you know anything about how to install the 1.70 Beta?
