Just got my first pair of non-prescription reading glasses. I should have done this 3 or 4 years ago! The thing that made me finally decide was trying to read the sodium content on a label at Aldi's and having to ask an employee to read it for me. Also helps immensely when reading my Kindle. I could have opted to increase the font size, but then you decrease the amount of words per page, so this is better. I like my reading glasses. I have no self image problem; the only reason I kept putting it off was pure laziness. I hope I am this positive when I have to start getting adult diapers.
The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

Welcome to the club It was when I could not read the letters on a 19-way 25mm Amphenol plug that I realised that I needed reading glasses, and the guy that I was working with he couldn't read them either, he had to hold the magnifying glass of my Swiss Army Knife over the contacts so I could see where to solder the wire back on to. Now I wear glasses full time and still have a big anglepoise lamp/magnifier on my desk here to read the small print... Glasses also help to you to see whom it is that you are shouting at to get off your lawn

About 10 years ago went and got my eyes checked. Now I have been wearing glasses for distance since the early '60s but on this checkup was told I didn't need glasses anymore. The downside was my short vision was degraded. Not enough then to require glasses then but over the 10 years has got to the point where I should probably get some reading glasses.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

I'm 68 and generally wear glasses for distance,,Tried bifocals for a couple years slowed down my reading...Now I don't usuall put on my glasses unless I go out..Got a 60" TV about 6 feet away and can see it fine,,But need CC for my hearing,,,The VA gave me hearing aids but they die about every year and the place I have to go to is 2 hours away so The heck with it that's two trips one for a test and one for fitting.and hell I live alone so don't have to listen to anybody... .The computer is an arms length away and with glasses it's blurry so i play with out them..Like KK my last eye test i passed without glasses and like letterboy I can't read the instructions on pill bottles,,So I got a couple hand held magnifiers from Amazom and that's cool..I read just fine without helpers and never use my glasses for that,,I do get some blurriness in my right eye due to having shingles over it a few years back but drops clear it up..Guess they make shotguns for us old timers to sweep our lawn if need be

I've had a light prescription for glasses for many years. Far sighted, its the up close that bothered me. A couple of years ago I had to give in and got some reading glasses. Held off on bifocals, just out of pride. Got to where I had to get the bifocals. Tried the progressive lenses and they were TERRIBLE. Very little room to see. Got regular bifocals and I feel like I have a new super power. LOL Love them! Expensive even with insurance, unfortunately.

I started having to use 'cheaters' about five years ago. My long distance vision is fine, it's up close and small that I can't see anymore. It's really irritating for me because I work on equipment a lot. I'll get grease or oil all over my hands and then need to see some small detail like a set-screw or something. Even worse is working underneath equipment and not being able to get my head and the glasses to line up at the right angle to see something small.

I have found that two big rounds of chemo have changed my eyesight. I used to need my glasses for driving and watching TV. Now I don't need them at all. The trouble is, my license says I do. I keep forgetting to put them on when I leave the house. I used to have trouble reading, now not so much. Strange. Why not just go to your local DOT office with your latest eye test and have the license changed. That is what I did.

I keep hoping my chemo will give me some sort of superpower, like Spiderman etc.

I've been in glasses since 2nd grade, I know no other way of life. When reading a paperback in bed I have to take off my glasses now. Progressive bifocals and then trifocals took some time getting use to. Wife was already wearing contacts when we met in 11th grade. She had Lasik in her early 30's and was told she'd probably need reading glasses early 40's or a new Lasik procedure might be available by then. Wasn't a problem until a couple years ago at 48, now she wears non-prescription glasses to read (from Costco). Gives her a bookworm librarian look, I can work with that. Costco did something really cool a few weeks back, they fixed my older backup glasses with stripped frame by replacing the screw with a tiny bolt and nut. I didn't know such a thing existed, using the smallest nut driver I've ever seen.

You can get safety glasses with readers. https://www.amazon.com/DPG59-120C-Reinforcer-Rx-Bifocal-Performance-Protective/dp/B000646VF8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498684750&sr=8-1&keywords=safety%2Bglasses%2Bwith%2Breaders%2B2.0&th=1
I got some wrap around polarized sunglaases with readers for fishing. Tying knots was a lot easier.

Just started wearing glasses for distance 3 years ago and had to upgrade my prescription to be a tad stronger. They tried to talk me into getting cheaters for near but the price was too high so I declined and now wish I got it. Trying to read some of the small print from work is brutal.
