In a 1915 campaign flying for the French in a Caudron G4 in the Verdun sector, I am frequently assigned bombing missions. I enjoy trying to drop a couple bombs on Hun positions by guess and by god and have actually gotten rather good at it. However, I am puzzled by the posted results. To date I have dropped 28 bombs achieving 76 hits and an accuracy rate of 271%. While I am the toast of the mess for this remarkable achievement, no one has been able to explain the arithmetic behind it.... At first I suspected that too much alcohol was responsible for my squadron mates replies, but once we had sobered up in the mornings, the numbers still looked a bit skewed. My CO says not to worry about it as it makes him look good back a Air HQ, but being a curious fellow I need to know what the hell is going on!!!!

One bomb, many hits! It might be referred to as collateral damage! Does that fit your situation?

Yep, one bomb can damage multiple targets. So the 'hits' number is a tally of items (tents, crates, hangers, etc) that your bombs hit .

Thanks Gents... I figured that was it... If that is indeed the case and I fully agree that it is, then the '%' number should be renamed and retooled mathematically to something more logical such as Damage per Flight or Damage per Bomb. As a percentage, it makes no sense and serves no purpose in defining skill as it has no context. Certainly a minor flaw, but a flaw all the same and one that would be easily corrected.
