Starring Sigourney Weaver.

He is hoping to develop this as a full fillm if viewers like it.

His previous short films turned movies -

This turned into District 9 -

And Chappie was developed from this one -

Maybe there is one for Elysium, but not that I know of.

I'm kinda nebulous right now with Blomkamp and wondering if he was just a one hit wonder.

District 9 was great. It was original and it took risks.

Elysium was a dull, big budget "Hollywoodized" movie with cardboard cut out characters and heavy handed moralizing.

Chappie had some memorable scenes but it was mostly forgettable. About a month after I saw it I had forgotten a lot of the details of the plot.

Not all his attempts worked.

His short to pitch for a Halo movie to Microsoft did not fly -

Why the hate for Elysium? I thought it was awesome, and was cheering as he stomped the crap out of the filthy rich. While it might have felt preachy, it wasn't far from the truth of how things are now. Those who have money absolutely feel justified in having their money, no matter how much in truth they may truly be, while so many others suffer in poverty, despite how hard they work.

Haven't watched much of Rakka yet, only a minute and a half, but it felt like the usual aliens take over, stomp man into the ground and we resist premise. I hope there's more to it than that. I myself don't believe the majority of aliens would want to eradicate a living world only to terraform it into something they could use, because if they could terraform, they'd realize they could terraform another planet that might not have living cultures, so as to see what comes of them and further opportunity for study.

Pretty much. I think he wanted to develop a contrast to District 9, with the Aliens having the upper hand this time. In any case, as many a remake or refried subject often do to succeed, it must be about the characters. I see some good ideas in there. It is just too short to know how it will go.

And Sigourney Weaver is playing a straight up hardcore Ripley.... biggrin

I liked it, Beat the hell out of Prometheus or the Buick Driver flying away from his kids.

Not liking Promethius... I can understand. The characters were retards. But Interstellar? Aside from the inconsistencies of obeying the laws of physics (magical space ship that can take off and land from planets, especially worlds that are many times Earth's gravity with Star Trek™ engines, yet initial launch needed to be done with a rocket ship), among other issues, the end message of the film I thought was strong, if nothing short of inspirational. We need more films like this to rally the people to improve the world.

I personally liked "Interstellar" a lot but I can understand some of the criticisms leveled against it.

For people who aren't big Chris Nolan fans, his films can come off as being a bit pretentious and slow paced.

Meh! Buick, Lincoln, same shi*. They're both car brands that only people over the age of 50 buy.
