These shows are becoming old hat now, so I'm not going to make a new thread about each one unless I make a rare vacation out of it.

Saturday (June 17th) we saw the Fleetwood Mac tribute band called Rumours (of Atlanta)...
http://rumoursatl.com/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWXW6wW5i2I

After watching the video and reading comments, as well as reviews elsewhere, I had very high expectations about this show and was not disappointed. IMO, Rumours is to Fleetwood Mac what ZoSo is to Led Zeppelin, they got it down to a science, moves and all. Like ZoSo (and most Beatles and Stones tribute acts), they impersonate the actual musicians, with the exception of Lindsey Buckingham being two people, a rhythm guitarist (and percussionist) who was the voice of Buckingham (dude with the long hair) and another dude playing lead guitar. They really sounded great, very clear and with the perfect volume for Fleetwood Mac music, not quite as loud as ZoSo with those monster Marshall stacks, nor as loud as Molly Ringwalds. Just right for their sound.

The evening was a little weird and at the end of the show I felt disappointed with humanity (more on that later). Wife and I helped my parents move boxes and furniture all day Saturday, knocked off about 5PM to get ready and left the house around 6:15. A little late but no big deal. Get to the Mexican restaurant for our sizzling shrimp fajitas, found it odd that there were very few people inside. Ate dinner (great as always, although our regular Friday evening servers weren't there) and headed to LSU. Sparse traffic, pull in to the LSU Student Union parking garage and we're the only car on the bottom level. Eh, hmm. Guess more stuff is usually happening on our regular Friday evenings but this still seemed odd.

So it's 8:20, doors opened at 8, show starts at 9, unless there's a starter band. I pour our drinks, 3-shot Costco knockoff Crown and Coke for me, 2-shot knockoff Grey Goose and OJ for her (love the tailgate on the Element) and we start making a beeline to the Varsity Theater, just a few feet off campus. Normally we can take our time on a more scenic route, see the tiger mascot (before he died recently), hang out in the quad, whatever, but not tonight. Get to the Varsity about 8:40. Hmm. Not many people outside, must be enjoying a starter band. I'm always afraid I'll miss the starting act, being another tribute like Heart or something.

The Varsity Theater is shaped like a shoebox (seated ~750 when it was a movie theater), you walk in the back into a lobby area, show your license at a window (confirming age [18+] and that you purchased tickets, will call, no actual tickets), and then you walk into the main area. The back wall is a long bar stretching the width of the building minus a hallway on each side including the one you just walked through. The floor is slightly elevated from the bar to about halfway the building, then you step down to the main floor which extends to the stage. There's also a balcony area, now it's tables and chairs for food and drink included with VIP tickets (meh).

So as we're walking into the place, I'm hearing no music. Look around and there's not many people around. There's a large screen on the left wall, everyone is watching the LSU baseball game (apparently they're in a playoff or something). There's even a couple of empty tables (these tables and chairs are removed for Molly Ringwalds, using the entire floor area). Oooookay, not a big crowd tonight, and now I'm figuring out that most people are probably watching the game at home. Well, we should have no problem claiming our favorite spot for this one.

Buzz is kicking in good now (for both of us), a little chitchat at front of the stage, some flirty talk (I'm married, not buried), and before we know it, it's 2 min. to 9...almost SHOWTIME! Except we're the only two shmucks on the main floor, there's nobody else! Ok. At least we won't be crowded tonight. smile 9:15, no band, no people, my buzz is weakening just enough to make me feel conspicuous being the only ones out there. The band is going to come on stage at any time and we're the only ones within, I dunno, 40 feet of the stage.

At 9:20 they come out, sans the normal lights out intro, and 'Stevie Nicks' apologizes for their tardiness and condition, apparently they were exhausted from multiple flights and having to meet up or something (maybe delays), and that she hoped their performance would be up to par (remembering lyrics, not muttering incoherent nonsense is what she said). This could be interesting, I guess. They tune up for a few seconds and then start playing "Gold Dust Woman" as in the video above. They seemed a little goofy at times, 'Steve Nicks' and 'Christine McVie' did some occasional story telling, knowing ahead of time they were competing with a ballgame (at least the screen was turned off, but you knew when LSU did something good), but they seemed to be enjoying themselves. They also do original music but "the tribute act pays the bills." By the end of the first song, around 10 people were on the main floor, maybe 30 after a few songs, plus the elevated floor, bar, and balcony areas which had people.

Overall, we thought the show was out-freaking-standing, a must-do again! thumbsup Fleetwood Mac's music, of course, makes for a very good date night. Wasn't every person in the band lovers with another member at some point? Their songs are almost always about relationships, when things are going good, but much more often, when they're not. There's a cool sexual vibe to Fleetwood Mac's music and this band nailed it in spirit, especially 'Stevie's' (but also 'Christine's') performance.

==========

They were on stage for about 1 hour 40 min. and played all the hits that I could keep track of except "Landslide". Also some Stevie Nicks solo stuff ("Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" w/Tom Petty). The songs I remember, but not in specific order)...

Gold Dust Woman
Say You Love Me
World Turning
Rhiannon
Don't Stop
Go Your Own Way
Hold Me
Everywhere
Gypsy
You Make Loving Fun
Dreams
Tusk
Little Lies
Sara
Big Love
Over My Head
Stop Dragging My Heart Around (Nicks solo w/Tom Petty)
The Chain

Missing:

Landslide
Edge of Seventeen (Nicks solo)
Leather And Lace (Nicks solo w/Don Henley)

Show ended with "The Chain" and a quick story of how Fleetwood Mac was breaking up and went out with all five members contributing to the song.

==========

The big letdown of humanity: We're all heading out and this gray-hair dude was yelling at a woman leaning against the stage railing, assuming it was his wife...

"You're never happy about anything!"
"All you ever do is ef'ing gripe!"
"You ef'ing complain all the gd time about everything!"
"What the ef?!"
"What the ef?!"

Everyone looked dumbfounded as this guy, holding a beer, was going off on this woman. At least he kept his distance while yelling at her, dude was big but fortunately so was just about everyone else. I think his friend was trying to calm him down, encouraging him to walk away. First time that's happened at one of these shows, someone becomes a real asshat.

==========

Ended the evening out at a campus coffee shop we walked to. As always, a very good time, except for the asshattery.

My fingers are as tired as my feet were yesterday, here are some pics...

As we're walking into the Varsity Saturday evening, a guy hands us this cardboard flyer...

[Linked Image]

3 tribute bands for $20.00, including draft beer (not sure how I'm going to handle that part yet).

Van Halen
Aerosmith
Guns N' Roses

Gonna check them out later, I'm sure we'll be there.

Been watching some YT videos of the above bands, the one which impresses me most is the headliner, Atomic Punks...
http://www.theatomicpunks.com/

They're playing the Whisky A Go-Go the week before coming to BR, they're mentioned in DLR's book and a couple of times, Michael Anthony has shown up at their gig and replaced the bass player. I'm getting a little pumped up about this one.

I can't tell yet by YT fan quality videos, but I wonder if Appetite for Destruction can match the Molly Ringwalds' Gn'R covers...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lU9Mj11fkk

The above video is enjoyable to me for a few reasons...

1. It's of decent sound quality.
2. The beginning of the video pans around the Varsity Theater, showing what I described in my first post and with the usual packed house.
3. The person filming is standing in our spot.

++++++++++

I really didn't give Rumours enough credit, they sounded so good. I've been watching Fleetwood Mac concert footage (not concert video synced with studio audio as was done so often in the 70's) and other than The Dance '97 tour (seen on PBS), Rumours to me sounds more like the Fleetwood Mac studio versions of their songs than the real Fleetwood Mac performing live!

The best thing about cover/tribute bands of course, is the price. For example, Saturday evening we spent...

+ Dinner (optional): Splitting a shrimp fajitas plate (2 fajitas each and chips) and a couple of waters w/lemon. Total: $20.00 including ~25% tip (makes for an even $20.00 and they're always generous to us).

+ Tickets for 2: $24.00 + $8.72 Service Fee. Total $32.72 (let's say $36.00 to include gas).

+ Parking: Free.

+ Drinks: Costco cheap, let's say $4.00.

+ Coffees (optional): $5.00.

Sooo...~$65.00 total *at most* for the evening, not bad, IMO.

++++++++++

I'm thinking that I'm going to pass on the complimentary draft beer on tribute band night (Friday, July 7th). Since I don't patronize the bar when it costs (an important source of revenue), and for reasons of knowing exactly how much I'm drinking and calculating time allowances, I'd feel guilty grabbing drinks when it's free, even if I were offered not to have to drive. If I'm being dragged to a wedding with an open bar, no problem, I don't mind my wife driving home. But on date night that wouldn't work for me, must be a man thing. smile Besides, I'd rather a little of the hard stuff over draft beer anyway.

++++++++++

Entering July, we're going to start paying attention to the many outdoor festivals/concerts downtown Baton Rouge has to offer. Sometimes there's multiple events/bands playing and you do a *lot* of walking to each event, should be allot of fun if it's anything like the mid-80's. I'm also looking for cover/tribute bands of 70's Classic Rock, Southern Rock and Soul/Funk. No Country unless it's an Alabama tribute.

^Nice. I don't know anything about the Dave Matthews Band, but if these guys (or similar) come around, I might pay the ~$10.00 to check out Dave Matthews music...

The Black Jacket Symphony is coming back to BR on Oct. 20th, this time they're doing Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours". Bah. We just did the Fleetwood Mac thing.
http://www.blackjacketsymphony.com/shows

They also did Led Zeppelin "II" right after we saw ZoSo, so we passed. Previous to the BR show, on Oct. 14th they're doing Eagles' "Hotel California" in Charleston, SC. Why can't we get that one?

++++++++++

Last night at 8PM I flipped off the lights and played Jan Hammer's "Miami Vice Theme" on the stereo. Wife made a pouty face, she knew I was mimicking the Molly Ringwald's intro, which should have been playing at that same time at L'auberge Casino. Last night was the first Molly Ringwalds show in BR that we missed since Dec. 2015, this being the last weekend to get everything out of my parent's house, down to a few pictures on the walls and cold groceries. Should finish today.

I was looking over reviews for Appetite for Destruction tribute band and came upon the following (warning: language and adult content)...

http://iqcrash.blogspot.com/2007/04/i-hate-tribute-bands.html

Lol. At least now I know they play "Patience"...cool. That was 10 years ago, they should *really* be in practice now (assuming the same members).

Also, Pandora's Box plays "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" (one of wife's favorite songs) and Atomic Punks play "Ice Cream Man". I have the feeling this is going to be one of the best shows yet!

What I'm hoping to hear on the evening of July 7th, my Top 10 setlist for each band (assuming the sets will be no more than 10 songs since 3 bands are playing).

My first real conflict, the evening of Friday Sept. 8th...Molly Ringwalds at L'auberge Casino or ZoSo at the Varsity Theatre.

Asked wife and she chose ZoSo (that was such a flippin' good show and evening). Sorry Molly, see you in December.

++++++++++

I thought this was a very well done documentary, it's about ZoSo and why they chose to be tribute musicians...

Man, I'm so freaking stoked about tomorrow night (music of Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, DLR Van Halen)...

[Linked Image]

- My first gift [to my wife] was a Rock mix tape (LP to 90 min. metal tape using good equipment) including those early Aerosmith (from first Greatest Hits [1980]) and Van Halen (pre-"1984") songs.
- "1984", the year we met and one of our all-time favorite albums (despite the flak it received for being synth heavy in the hits "Jump" and "I'll Wait").
- First kiss was to "Ice Cream Man", my Rock mix tape playing in the background as we talked outside her car in our school parking lot.
- "Appetite for Destruction" (at least the 3 big hits), the primary soundtrack to our 1987 engagement.
- Sending Aerosmith's "Crazy" as an Anniversary musical greeting card e-mail (was a pay service in the mid-90's, I assume no longer exist).
- Other Aerosmith and Gn'R power ballads, including some shared favorites.

And then...

- The Fixx (not a cover/tribute, in another thread).
- ZoSo (a repeat, but they're really good).
- Molly Ringwalds at the end of the year (gonna miss two in a row now with ZoSo, feel like I'm cheating on them).

Not to mention some free outdoor festival concerts, as well as a couple of other bands I'm considering (one is another 80's cover band).

Saying goodbye to my 40's the best way I can. band

Show started right on time at 8:30, and ended at 1:30 (almost to the minute, with two 15 min. intermissions between bands). It was a 5 hour show! eek

All three bands exceeded our expectations, which continue to rise every time we're wowed by one of these tribute acts. Been waiting to give at least a mediocre review but I can't with the bands last night, quite the opposite. They may only be imitators but they're also incredible musicians and entertainers, they are IMO truly professionals. We definitely feel like we got our monies worth ($20.00+SC x 2), plus a few dollars donation after grabbing a couple of beers.

I knew after the opening 1-1/2 hour 'Aerosmith' set that:

A. If this is the opener, we're in for one freaking incredible evening!
B. We're going to be here for a loooong time!

I was right on both.

Going to go through my pics and then make a separate post for each band. Sorry that I never take video but it would suck anyway (old iPhone 4s) and I don't have the ISP horsepower to fool with it.

This show was almost everything we had hoped for, and overall we just had such a blast! More to come...

We made the 10 o'clock News!

Too many people in-and-out of my house right now to concentrate on posting about Friday's show, but this just happened...

Wife's sister just came over to see the house and asked why I was walking with such a bad limp. "Another gout attack?" "Nah" (that hasn't happened since 2008). So I tell her about the show Friday night, all the walking and being on our feet for over 6 hours and how it put a hurtin' on me.

"So that *was* y'all on the News!" Her husband (retired Army) told her, "That looks like Annette and Mark!" They saw us standing at the front of the stage (during "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" we were actually slow dancing, as were others [looked like a middle-age senior prom...lol]).

I mention him being ex-military because the show was a benefit for local veterans, and I'll mention some things about that in my upcoming posts.

Anyway, my monthly bandwidth doesn't reset for another 10 hrs. so it's difficult searching for local news stories right now. If I find something later, I'll post it.

We were on TV! biggrin

Follow-up to the above...

The only video I could find was on the Red Rock & Blue Facebook page, a good shot of the back of my bald head bopping to Van Halen's "Mean Street" (is it still considered headbanging when you have no hair on your head?).

Wasn't going to do this, but since I found of couple of candid pics of us at the show, I'll post more people pics. First pic (in thumbnails below) I took 10 min. to showtime (wife in our favorite spot with pre-show stage in background, lots of guitars at both ends of stage) and the rest I got from the Red Rock & Blue Facebook site (we're front and center and a little to the right)...

Alright, I need to do this before I forget what happened. old_simmer

Breaking it down to...

+ Pre-show (this post)
+ Pandora's Box (Aerosmith)
+ Appetite for Destruction (Guns N' Roses)
+ Atomic Punks (Van Halen)

++++++++++

Evening started off as usual, splitting a shrimp fajitas at Cactus Café in Zachary, LA. Personal opinion is that they do that one thing really well, not so crazy about their other dinners. Place was pretty packed but no wait. Our regular Friday night waiter walks up to us and asks, "Molly Ringwalds tonight?" "Nope, other Rock acts." "Regular dinner?" "Yup." Perfect meal (they know we're on a time schedule) and off to LSU we go.

Arrive at the Varsity Theatre and there's a line to get in, never saw that before. Although there were a lot of people, the line was moving slowly through items for auction. Sister-in-law told us that the News said they raised over $100,000.00 that night, to benefit local veterans. It was mentioned several times during the show what the benefit was for, with lots of kudos given out to our soldiers, past and present, and there were plenty in attendance. The items for auction were mostly sports paraphernalia. I'm not much into sports but I'll show a few pics I got from the Red Rock and Blue site for those who might be.

Our local Classic Rock station made announcements and introductions, then threw out t-shirts to the audience. Wife wanted one for my father (his favorite station, I don't much listen to FM radio) and she jumped up and caught one (the woman has leap). Pic of the t-shirt (which she kept wrapped around her neck during the show), the cardboard flyer we received at the Fleetwood Mac show, and an Appetite for Destruction guitar pick that I caught during their set...

Show started with Pandora's Box (Aerosmith tribute) walking onto a darkened stage. I have to admit that I'm a little spoiled with Molly Ringwalds's newer "Miami Vice Theme" lights out intro with screen video introduction, builds anticipation for the first song. But that's ok, these guys started off rocking with "Chip Away At The Stone", IIRC. They played for exactly an hour and a half, covering pretty much all the early hits ("Dream On", "Walk This Way", "Sweet Emotion", "Back In The Saddle", "No More No More", etc.) and also the later ones ("Jaded", "Love In An Elevator", "Rag Doll", "Dude (Looks Like A Lady", "Cryin'", etc.).

And of course, the Rock ballad from "Armageddon" and Aerosmith's only #1 hit, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing". The only songs missing that I wished they would have played were "Crazy" and "Amazing", but they did play most everything else in their surprisingly long set, and I guess they wanted to minimize the mellow stuff.

I'm not such a hardcore Aerosmith fan that I have individual studio albums except for one that I bought recently, "Toys In The Attic" (top CD in pic) in a batch of the last CDs I've purchased (from the Walmart bargin bin, and some were repeats)...

[Linked Image]

In the middle I'm showing cover pics of the two Greatest Hits that I own, always disappointed that the original Hits compilation (1980) excludes the intro bass riff to "Sweet Emotion", which I have now in "Toys..." and also with the "Armageddon" soundtrack (wife really wanted "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing").

And like Jumping Jack Flash (Rolling Stones tribute band) we enjoyed a couple years ago, I have to ask...where do they find guys as skinny and ugly as Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler who look and sound so much like the men they're impersonating?! biggrin I don't even care if a band looks like the real thing (and some don't even try) as long as I can close my eyes and enjoy a suspension of disbelief, like I'm at the foot of the stage at a concert of the real band. All 3 bands delivered this experience, but as far as impersonations, 'Steven Tyler' was unmatched that night, IMO.

Pandora's Box was, I guess, the most romantic band of the evening (Gn'R being angry, VH being happy-go-lucky) and we'll definitely be seeing them again if they come back to BR. They were a lot of fun and at one time 'Steven Tyler' and 'Joe Perry' were playing about two feet in front of us, as if for those couple of seconds, playing just for us (didn't get a pic, sorry).

The sound was excellent (I love small venue acoustics), not *too* loud but loud enough that you could feel the music, and they were a fantastic co-opener for the evening.

After 'Aerosmith' wrapped up their set, there was a 15 min. intermission and then co-opener Appetite for Destruction (Guns N' Roses tribute) took the stage to do their 1-1/2 hour set. I noticed more people had arrived and were filling the floor at this point.

Alright, I'm also not a hardcore Guns N' Roses fan as I don't have *everything* they released. I have "Appetite For Destruction" on CD (also had it on vinyl) and to be honest, I only really cared for the 3 big hits: "Welcome To The Jungle", "Paradise City ", and "Sweet Child O' Mine". The rest is meh, IMO. I believe I recognized a couple of the non-hits from "Appetite..." in the show, but I'm not sure what they were, even after going back to my CDs (burned to MP3) for a listen. I thought they could have left those off the setlist but I'm sure it pleased hardcore Gn'R fans (as it would for me to hear a Rush tribute band playing "The Necromancer" and "The Fountain of Lamneth" from "Caress of Steel").

I also have on CD the albums "Use Your Illusion (I and II)" and their "Greatest Hits", which I bought mostly for "Patience" IIRC, which was came out after the "Illusions". Just looked it up, it's off their third album "Lies" which I don't have, nor anything after that. One of those non-hit songs may have come from an "Illusions", also with those I stick mostly to the hits. I mention this because they played everything I'd noted in my wish setlist except for "Civil War" (maybe not appropriate for the evening, I dunno), "Yesterdays", "Estranged" and the biggie IMO, "November Rain". I'm disappointed with that because the Molly Ringwalds constantly cover the big 3 from "Appetite..." and do a great job of it, but they've never played "November Rain" (possibly because it's technically a 90's song, although they cheat a little sometimes with late 70's and early 90's). Oh well, can't have it all. They did play the original "Don't Cry" which was a nice surprise.

I have no pics of my Gn'R CDs and I don't feel like pulling out my CD containers. smile

With all that said, on to the performance which was superb in two areas:

Firstly was 'Axl Rose', maybe a little overweight for an 80's Axl but he had what I would assume to be a realistic intimidating Axl Rose presence on stage. You got the feeling throughout their set that at any time, he might truly mimic Axl by going off on the audience, throwing his microphone down with a big "FU" and storming off stage. I was sure his persona was part of the act but he truly seemed a little deranged and could possibly have a short fuse. Maybe because, other than a little added belly girth, he looked, moved and sounded so much like Axl Rose! It wasn't until the end of their set that you realized that this Axl was really a pretty cool guy, especially when 'Steven Tyler' came back on stage to help sing "Paradise City". His performance to me just seemed so dead on authentic with what I would expect Axl to be like in concert, so much so that it was almost scary. biggrin

Secondly, their drummer was awesome! How he even sees the drums with all the flying hair is a mystery to me, but this guy was full throttle the entire set, constantly doing Neil Peart drumstick twirls and catches, also balancing one stick vertically in the palm of his hand while beating the hell out of the drums with the other. Other than sounding great, he was really fun to watch.

One other disappointment was that "Patience" was played with an electric and not an acoustic guitar. In fact, I don't remember seeing an acoustic guitar all evening, not even with Van Halen's "Ice Cream Man". Still sounded good, though.

Pics below include 'Izzy' playing while 'Axl' is whistling the beginning of "Patience", as well and 'Steven Tyler' joining in "Paradise City"...

Around midnight the Atomic Punks (Van Halen tribute) took the stage. There's a reason they were the headliner, and IMO it wasn't 'David Lee Roth'. Oh, this guy was good enough as DLR, although he looked the least like his real-life frontman counterpart, IMO. But close enough for government work, and more importantly he sounded and acted enough like Diamond Dave.

No, the *real* star with this band is the phenomenal guitarist (who also doesn't look that much like Eddie Van Halen, IMO). Oh my, can this dude freaking play guitar! eek2

First off, the Atomic Punks play only DLR Van Halen material so there was no doubt that I would recognize every song...

[Linked Image]

They didn't play *every* song I'd hoped for, but they played most of them including "Runnin' With The Devil", "Feel Your Love Tonight", "Ice Cream Man", "Dance The Night Away", "Beautiful Girls", the big hits off of "1984" except for "I'll Wait". Pretty much all the classic hits including "Eruption", of course. They ended the show, closing in on 1:30 in the morning, with "Unchained".

During "Jump", the guitarist broke his middle string and played the rest of song without it, working around it the best he could. After the song he grabbed a bag and ran backstage to change his string. Meanwhile, 'Diamond Dave' cut a couple jokes, including one about 8-track tape and then confessed that he was stalling for time. He also reminded the crowd what the benefit was all about, giving more kudos to our armed forces personnel. 'Eddie' comes out with a fresh string and the show continues.

What I enjoyed most about the guitarist was how he mimicked an early Eddie VH, all smiles and hyperactive jumping around, not only pulling off Eddie VH proficiently, but doing so effortlessly, at least that's how he made it look. This guy is crazy good, the best tribute musician I've seen yet. The Eddie VH that I saw in concert (1995?), with short hair and a bad hip, played pretty well that night, although I believe he was hitting the booze and drugs hard then and didn't really seem to be having a good time (and poor Alex was in a neck brace, but also played well). This is the first happy-go-lucky 'Eddie' I've seen, and playing all fun stuff ("Balance" was good IMO, but kind of a dark album).

The Atomic Punks were really fun to watch and nailed DLR Van Halen perfectly IMO, the guitarist even struck a pose when he saw me taking a picture (3rd pic). smile

In conclusion to Friday night's show...

Not even a couple of years or so ago would I have considered seeing a cover or tribute band. The turning point, as I remember, was taking my wife to see Rick Springfield in Oct. or Nov. of 2015 (thanks again, Logan, your wife's expression sold me). That was at L'auberge Casino in a nice auditorium (and no, I don't gamble) and they were advertising their next events on screen before the show, one being the Molly Ringwalds. I didn't think much of it, really, except noticing the Devo hat and the guy dressed like Twisted Sister. But the woman next to me overhead a comment I made to my wife, and said that they (her and husband) see them all the time and that they put on a really good show. So we checked them out (Dec. 2015) and they were good and their show was lots of fun. They opened my mind to the other acts we've seen (still need to provide links at top of thread) and it just keeps getting better.

Friday night's show was one of the best we've seen (if a little long), and we didn't even know about it until we were handed a flyer at the Fleetwood Mac tribute show, just 3 weeks prior. I need to be more diligent with finding these local events. There's plenty of bands I'd love to see a tribute of, some I've seen for real but most I haven't, and I'm looking forward to these experiences. For how long, I don't know. I've said many times over the years on this board, that I'm not going to feel old until Rush retires from touring. Well, they're done, but I'm not ready to feel old yet. smile I'm very thankful these cover and tribute bands exist, and they make it very clear, all of them, how much they themselves are such big fans of the music they're covering. I hope cover and tribute bands continue being popular and I plan to see every one of them that I have interest in.

The cool thing to me is that, while it's nostalgia that's motivating me to see these shows, or go to the Varsity, or see Rocky Horror, etc., I'm creating my best 90-year-old rocking chair memories right now (if I live that long)! old_simmer

But for now, I need to switch gears and get my musical Fixx from an original band. band

This is the one I'm still anticipating the most when it returns, hopefully soon...

Door guy told us that the turnout (Jan. of this year) was very sparse due to weather (we stayed in ourselves that night due to roads icing over) but that they put on the show anyway and that it was spectacular! I would have loved to have seen it.

Don't normally do back-to-back weeks, but going to make an exception for the rare opportunity to get funky. biggrin The Friday before The Fixx show...

EDIT: Removed video until I'm sure which band this is. Like with Rumours, there might be more than one Lovesexy Prince tribute band.

Can't stand the bullsh!t that is Despacito these days. But Leo/Leap Frog Studios takes care of that.
