i did a skirmish last night, the game (at least this portion of it) seems to be in pretty good shape. Frankly I've played releases with more issues. The gameplay was solid, and I had no trouble learning the basics of how to move, fire, etc. It's early but I think this will be a winner!

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

Yeah it's pretty natural to operate. I get an odd camera angle here and there, during an action when you can't con it.
Haven't won one yet! The AI pilots seem to have more advanced skills.

Won my first game, but the mechanics needs some getting used to. Then again, I was playing WITHOUT having to read the manual.... the MANLY way! Hahaha!!

There are some nuances to be learned but it looks like it's going to be more strategy and tactics, which I like. I haven't won yet either, I've been impressed with the way the AI uses its units - esp ranged vs brawlers. Funny, the discussion on the Dev forum seems to be saying the AI is weak, so maybe I'm just awful so far!!

Yeah, finding the right range, and using your strengths is tough. I'm just too much of a brawler to keep my LRM-boats out of short range. biggrin

I'm loving the 3ppc Awesome, and the cents are tough as hell and the laser boat hunchie is a tonnage bargain.
Getting better, but still tough! Nice that water works for cooling, unlike MWO. Really effective with that Awesome.
Only complaint so far...need bigger maps. Would like to see current tonnage on screen where picking mechs and pilot side by side comparison. Will send that on the next survey.

It also seems to get brawly pretty quickly. Had a great match last night where I drew in a couple enemy mechs to a crossfire between some big rock formations. My mechs weren't visible until they walked past them, so I was able to get some rear shots in with one of those 3 PPC cannon Awesomes you mentioned and dropped one ppretty quickly. I wound up taking the first two bad guys down without much damage to my mechs and finished off a med and light without much trouble.

The thing is, all the AI mechs seem to like to close to melee range engage that way rather fire weapons. A 30t light has no business walking up to 3 med/heavy mechs to melee. Hopefully that gets tweaked during the course of the beta.

I've enjoyed several rounds. There's only so many times you can play 4v4 on just a few maps, but that's a beta for you. I bet the campaign will be amazing.

Yep. The beta is just there for us to have a look at how the game plays out, and so far, I love how it works. AI may be wonky, sure, but all AI have faults. This game will shine in human vs. human fights.

Didn't want to hijack the Mechwarrior 5 thread.
Campaign mission from the game dropped last month.
I get a distinct feel of Mech Commander from the comms.

Just got done watching the video from a link on the Harebrained twitter feed. Looks good. Really looking forward to this one.

Stumbled across another game that looks similar, still in development:

Phantom Brigade : ( not Battletech but still stompy robots )
