Just came back from Costco, this time with a Crown Royal knockoff.
I've posted before about their $20.00 1.75L knockoff bottle of Grey Goose (impressing even some of the experts), but I've never seen their Crown Royal knockoff until tonight...
1.75L for $20.00! (showing a 5th of Triple Sec for comparison)...
Trying it out from my USS KIDD shot glass...
Pretty good stuff. I dunno, I'll need to do an A/B comparison to know for sure, I think Crown goes down a little smoother, but I'm no whisky connoisseur.
I do have plenty of CR purple bags though, most are packed in the attic, some given away. These are just the ones I keep in my sock drawer, including one that fit this monster bottle...
I limit myself to 3 shots (or 3 beers) a week (considering calories and brain cells), almost always on a Friday evening, but not every week (and they don't roll over or accumulate, tonight was just an extra treat). Next Saturday evening I'll be buzzing to a knockoff Fleetwood Mac performance on knockoff Crown Royal. My world is becoming an affordable knockoff. Lol.
Damn, this single shot is feeling...pretty good right now. I can live with this for the $, it'll take me a long time before I go through this much booze.

I like when I can find an inexpensive whiskey that I like.
I have found that my tastes and the price on the bottle don't always agree - the expensive single malt stuff is NOT to my taste at all - and I prefer Johnny Walker Black to Blue.
Where would your new found Kirkland fit between Crown Royal and Canadian Mist?
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

I don't know how I never saw it, as much as I shop there, and being right next to the vodka.

My go to, and my local Costco has it at a bargain price (for Canada at least). I drink it over crown any day of the week. If you haven't tried it, give it a whirl. It's a pure rye.

^ What about smokes? I was told the same thing once about smokes, if not as direct. Decisions, decisions. I chose the lips, although I'm allowed an occasional cigar, but it's been a long time now.

Those pics just look so odd to me. Liquor here, in Virginia, is state controlled and only sold in state run stores. So you won't be seeing anything like that around here. .

Drive thru daiquiris are all over the place, even a few miles away in Port Allen, LA where I grew up.
I think Louisiana lags behind the country when it comes to alcohol, the drinking age was still 18 when I turned 18 in 1985 (I had long started drinking secretly, turning 18 was just a technicality). The feds put pressure on the state by withholding roadwork funding or something, and the state finally gave in and changed the age to 21.
However, what I didn't know was that the drinking age is still 18 with certain conditions (as of 2011)...
========== "What is the legal age to enter a bar in Louisiana?
18 years old.
What is the legal drinking age in Louisiana?
21 years old. However, 18-20 year olds may consume alcohol in an alcoholic beverage outlet if they are accompanied by a parent, spouse, or legal guardian who is 21 years of age or older." ==========
I haven't confirmed this, not sure what the laws are now.

Just wanted to add that I don't condone my state's laxed alcohol-related laws. The one thing that puts a damper on my occasional late night out is that, on the way home, I usually see at least one driver who appears to be intoxicated. There's a rural highway out here (Hwy 67, Plank Rd) that we now avoid after dark, too many drunk driving fatalities just since we've moved back home. It's absurd.

Have not drank any whisky since I was 18. Jack Danial`s did it for me. Only hard liqueur I drink is a mixed with Vodka. Wife is Southern Comfort fan. Can`t stand the stuff. I only drink beer.
