Opening move in our campaigns is usually a HARM-CAP flight to blind as many SAM tracking radars as early as possible. But, since I am one of the Mk84 guys and the frontline in RF is packed with HART sites I just had to go four-eight-four.
Think I failed clearing the weather before my takeoff so I had to endure the classic DBond weather. Osan disappears in seconds after takeoff.
As usual in the first hours of a campaign there is a wall of SAM systems saying "good morning". One of them actually went ballistic on me but a swift counter with the jammer made him concetrate on other things.
Delivery was pretty standard so no pictures from that but this is 36th squadron of Osan livery, I like it.
21 kills on 2 bombs, not really sure what I was doing with the last pair
As seen there are numerous A-10 flights and they deliver.
Good work Oden. And yes, I fragged a bunch of A-10s to hit the main avenues of advance that the Red Horde uses to roll south.
If auto map update is off it should be OK. And frankly I do not know if the changing weather contributes to the pausing issue at all. It was more just to test it and see.
No weather map could be attained at this stage by renaming the save or deleting the weather files from the save folder I would think. Not sure really. I guess leave it as is and we will see what happens, as long as auto updates is indeed off. I see you got up early, and beat the Red air force to the punch. Good kills.

I may have broken the server. I committed to a flight, but the load screen froze on the 2nd square before kicking me back to mission debrief with a frozen clock. I restarted the sim, but couldn't connect to the server.
Hopped on tonight and hit a nuclear plant and then Cane and I got in three mission, all around Kaesong. Did some good work and took out quite a few ground troops and aircraft, Cane was eating DFC's for breakfast. All missions were landed, though some were fraught with peril and angry Fishbeds firing missiles. Evaded them all again. It's too late for an AAR, and I'm getting up early to go see the Blue Angels tomorrow. But a shot of us after the final sortie before we hit the O'club.

Had a go at those Frogs just north-west of the front.
2-ship from Osan (36th Sqn) Arranged for 2 precision steerpoints planning to have wingman to blast one battalion while I would ripple my 8 CBU-87's at the other.
Pretty dark taking off (as usual) at about 8 000 ft everyting lit up in a nice "dark-bright" light, had a look over my right shoulder an there was a full moon looking at us.
As usual my p.steerpoint was all empty so I had to improvise. Wingman had already called for permission and I let her go with no idea of what she was targetting. From memory I knew I had 3 FROG-7 battalions between steerpoint 3 and 4 so unable to spot the indented battalion at stp 3 I turned west for stp4. Found somthing but TGP gave me no joy so I settled with a radar lock mid-string so to speak and had all CBU's go.
On RTB I tried to join wingman (wingwoman?) that had been chasing a number of MiG-19's for a while. She called low and very low and suddenly very high. No idea what was going on but soon I had a target that AWACS declared as a Farmer pretty low at 5kft. Locked the bugger and tried to close in and just as I reached launch distance it just went ballistic up to 4 million ft (or something). My lock still had him and I just gave full AB climbing like a rocket and started to realise something was up-that-creek. As I pulled my nose down I got the dreaded blue-pause. Not the best to have when in a steep dive.
As soon as the pause released I had to fight to not slam into ground at x4 simulation.
Not going to land in this situation I just made an ESC-E
Got 9 kills on that FROG gang and two were FROG-7 launchers and the others hit was Trucks and ZU-23's
Good work Oden. When you set your target battalion, look and see what their ETA is. If it says none they are stationary. Assuming that doesn't change they will still be there when you arrive. If they have a time shown under ETA, they are moving to whatever destination it shows. If you really want to get that battalion, you can make their destination another steerpoint and search between the two.
If you're around tomorrow maybe we can hook up for a couple hops.

Got in a late night hop. Things look good in the campaign. Red air force is hurtin', though I ran in to a pair of MiG-29As on my mission. Blue has pushed forward all along the front, but the Red ground troops are still very strong, so we could use some more interdiction type stuff. I flew an interdiction near Kaesong. Loaded four CBU-87, two AGM-88, two AIM-120C and two AIM-9X. Fired both HARMS as I turned on the IP, but both missed. I then was forced to deal with the MiGs. They got two missiles off at me at the same time I fired at each of them. I evaded, and both MiGs were knocked down. I then found a nice column and rippled the CBU on them. Good kills including a number of Shilkas and a SA-13 or two.
Server performance on this mission was good, no funny stuff.

Just hopped on to see the situation and find which PAKs needs to be updated. Looks like both Russia and China have joined? There are no longer force level lines for those nations and there is a big spike in red aircraft, so I assume they both joined?
I could see no aircraft up at the moment so couldn't check if they were flying combat missions.
That will spice things up a bit.

Hopped on twice today, once in the early afternoon and just now. I was mistaken, Russia has yet to join, but China's in. We also have no E-3s flying and it had a big effect on my second mission. Blue is consolidating and Red ground strength is still too high along the front. Our pixeltruppen are running in to strong resistance and taking some heavy losses.
The first mission I flew was another interdiction near Kaesong. Took four CBU-87, two -84s and some spears. Got the CBU off for some kills, knocked down a Red aircraft, then was shot down and killed trying to get my eight-fours off. Got too low and hit by two IR SAMs. Poof! Not even a burning plane, just vaporized.
Second mission later tonight was a strike against Pupo-ri naval base. Nothing at all was showing in the air for Red on the map. We had an E-2 south of Seoul, but they can't see far. I plotted my path out over the Yellow Sea and took off with an AI wingman and four eight-fours. Halfway to the target we ran in to a train of Red aircraft. It turned out to be J-11s, Su-30s and Q-5s, but I just saw a bunch of 29s on the RWR during the mission. Wingman jettisoned his bombs straight away as he was engaged. I knocked down both J-11s and we gained separation from the Su-30s (as I ran from missiles! ) who seemed more concerned with their mission. We then intercepted the Q-5s who had turned around and popped two, for one kill, with my 9Xs. I then had to swing back out to sea to get lined up for my strike and we were being chased now by those Su-30s. So I improvised my attack run from a different heading and got the bombs off for good hits. Took out some of the port and some AAA units defending it.
Coming off target I went full mil and tried to carve a wide path back toward home, but the Su-30s were cutting us off. They began drifting behind the 3/9 line on the RWR and I thought we had it when we passed over pair of Q-5s and the wingman engaged, which let the Su-30s close and engage him in turn. I kept on keeping on as I was down to guns. Somehow the wingman shot down both Q-5s, evaded the Sukhoi's and we flew back to Osan and landed.
With no E-3s up AWACS info is very limited so be careful. You still get responses to declare calls (due to 'No AWACS required' setting), but picture calls are not complete, nor will you get the expected aircraft launch activity calls.
Good mission that could have turned out much worse. Once I realized what we had blundered in to, I had doubts we would make it out, let alone hit the target. So good fortune on this one.

CBU-87/Mk84 seems a deadly mix. But yeah, we should implement a new rule, never go below 12kft - I frigging always die or walk home when I do that.
Pupo strike sounds like an experience and good job wingman. Getting pushed by Su-30's like that reminds me of Tiger Spirit we flew earlier when I tried to get away flying in orbit and sacrificing all my fuel going fast but they just never give up with their long legs.
Getting new broadband tonight but it should not interfere with the server but if server is down a few minutes you all know why (will try to switch server during daily restart).
Not much participation on this campaign I'm sad to say. Or if there is they aren't talking about it. I've flown six or seven sorties. For whatever reason I was given credit for another five sorties before I flew, somehow a carry-over from the previous run I guess.
A wish.... would you consider transferring the 36th to either Suwon or Kimpo? I am not a fan of Osan, as you know. Suwon is a little further from the front than Kimpo, but both are two-runway. Now that we have pushed into Kaesong there should be no risk of having these airbases evacuated, especially if we get some more people flying interdictions! hint hint
