Or like the ones in Elysium. Both of those movies are great, btw. "Edge of Tomorrow" was very good IMHO. "Elysium" was super preachy and it had some terrible cardboard cut-out characters like the one played by Jodie Foster.

I loved the preachy part of Elysium, but I love rooting for the little guys in life.

Mobile Infantry
To the everlasting glory of the Infantry shines the name, shines the name of Rodger Young.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

There's a Starship Troopers animated movie that was good that featured the armor/exoskeleton. More like the book.

I loved the first one, despite being it's own story. Casper Van Dien was behind the animated one I noticed.

To the everlasting glory of the Infantry shines the name, shines the name of Rodger Young. First thing that came to mind for me - why settle for an exoskeleton when you can be encased in an armored suit equipped with everything from hand flamers to nuclear rockets?

Not if you build in the same or slightly less range of motion.

It's cool but you have to worry; if something goes wrong with the technology it'll rip the wearer's body apart. And that's very likely considering that the exoskeleton could be easily damaged by enemy fire.

Which is why I asked why we should settle for an exoskeleton. The exoskeleton is what does all the work, add an armored skin & weapons to it and the biggest changes you'll have to make are using stronger hydraulics and actuators to compensate for the extra weight and building in both active and passive sensors for targeting, navigation, and communication.

this is looking more and more like some of the science fiction movies we've all seen over the decades
