I've just spend the past 4 hours of trial and error trying to set up my CH combatstick 568 USB in IL2 BOS and not making much progress.

I got the external views and plane controls set up but the in cockpit snap views and panning setup is my problem. The new head views verbiage vs. the camera views is less than intuitive as to which one does what.

I've not found anything with a Google search other than adjusting the sensitivities. So I came here but haven't found anything so far in the forum content like a link to a printed CH setup for the game.

Can anyone help?....

The game has 3 or 4 "camera" modes, you can cycle in between with F-9.

The more practical (IMO) is the incremental PAN without return to center (use a separated button to recenter view) instead that archaic "snaps".

The last mode selected became the standard, until change again.

You can adjust "camera" speed in camera and in pilot head.

Opera resume: at least in this department this game offer more customization than previous "iL-2" variations.

Appreciate the replay.

I understand about the F9 change view cycle . My problem is the game default joystick settings don't CORRECTLY recognize any of the CH combatstick hat switch positions. As such it's been a ordeal of repetitive trial and error attempting to decipher what the various head and camera views descriptions relate to.

I've tried deleting all of the default joystick button settings and then assigning what I have interpreted the various view functions verbiage to be to the hat switch, then restarting the game only to find the hat switch either has no response OR changes the view to some off the wall position like stuck facing rear or straight up ....

Apparently most players here only use TrackIR vs. having had to contend with the misery of attempting to configure a joystick to correspond to the game default joystick functions for snap and pan viewing.

Just to add, the only configured functions that were straight forward are for my rudder pedals, the CH combatstick throttle and the weapons fire buttons. Everything else (view buttons and hat switch views) .... nope.

This is normal, this game don't recognize any joystick HAT or buttons, you need assign manually.
Or use joystick software for that "press joystick buttons to press keyboard keys for make commands" and assign HAT/Buttons to send the keys mapped by default.

By default camera (POV) control is done in numpad keys, I suggest you test this keys in diverse mod (F9) until find the best suitable for you, and then assign HAT corner together with the keys (each game command accept 3 different inputs, by keys or joy buttons).

I don't use TrackIR or similar (I have one but it's in the drawer, leave me sick), so rely on POV HAT.

I use PAN mode, HAT corners move "camera POV" and leave the in the last position. With a Combatstick I use that big button under POV HAT for recenter the view.

For achieve better rear peripheral vision, HAT 90 and 270 besides move camera for right and left "lean" the POV for right and left at same time that move POV Up.

This is done assign that HAT corners for different command, the result is this:

How I assign - in "Pilot Head":

Thanks so much for the screen shots!

All of the joystick settings in the screen shots reference "joy0" .... when I assign any view to my hat switch if shows as "joy1" and I don't get the view I assigned it to.

I'll go back in later this evening and reset everything to default, then try the number pad views and see if I can add my hat switch positions to correspond to the button views. And as you suggested assign a cockpit forward/centered view to one of the CH buttons. Will report back ... and thanks again!

Can't thank you enough Sokol1!!!!

Setting/adding my CH hatswitch POV positions to match the Num key view positions was the key - simple fix (once you showed me how....) - and without messing with the default settings.

I've made a reminder note for future reference...

I fly better with the pan view method as well vs. TIR ... I can lock on to the bad guys with a button push and stay oriented better to attack them.
