That... made my feet and legs tingle, in a scared way. Crazy enough, I think I'd rather jump out of a plane with a parachute before I tried something like that. Not that planes should be jumped out of--they have perfectly useful wings. wink

Exactly my thoughts to, had the same sensations. Parachute would be safer. Kept thinking the rope would snap. That was a seriously long rope.

The only rappelling I have ever done was inside a cave. It took a bit of convincing. The drop was only about 50' but the jump off point was extended out over the hole by about five feet so that you could not see the wall you were going to land on until after you jumped off. The only light was from our helmet lamps and that little flame didn't light up much.

... and all he did for the whole descent was staring straight at the landing zone? rolleyes

Airplanes are now built to carry a pilot and a dog in the cockpit: the pilot's job is
to feed the dog, and the dog's job is to bite the pilot if he touches anything...

Actually the cave was a 'relatively' small cave on some private property near Martinsburg, W.V. This was almost thirty years ago so I don't remember exactly where or the name of the cave.

Woodbridge has changed quite a bit since then. It's much more built up and the rush hour traffic extends far south of here before it breaks up.
