Hello,

We currently play the Unsung Vietnam mod exclusively on Saturdays.

I am proposing to keep the Unsung mod, but add a couple of World War 2 mods to the session. We would play either mod, based on player's desires and/or new mission availability.

The first mod is 'Iron Front in ARMA3 Lite', which are many assets (vehicles, units, terrains) from Iron Front.
https://forums.bistudio.com/forums/topic/190809-iron-front-in-arm3-lite-preview-versions/
Positives: many units and terrains (including winter units and terrains)
Negatives: reduced texture quality due to copyright issues with using Iron Front content, plus unknown bugs, etc.

The second mod is Faces of War (which is a Western Front mod that also had Hell in the Pacific mod added to it, into a combined mod)
https://forums.bistudio.com/forums/topic/198194-faces-of-war-ww2/
Positive: good quality units, vehicles. Japanese, British and Marine units. Pacific island map.
Negatives: One map

There could be more positives and negatives, but I simply haven't spent the time with the mods to discover more.

I'm proposing we run both mods at the same time and hope the gameplay will work out okay between mods.
Both mods are not at full release version status, but I don't think that should be a deterrent, as we've played Unsung at the very early stages.

Both mods are available on Steam:
Iron Front in ARMA 3 Lite
IFA3_AIO_LITE
CUP Terrain-CORE (Needed for mod)

Faces of War
Faces of War

Also, a compatibility patch to allow both mods to run concurrently is needed.
IF & FOW Compatibility Patch

As all these mods are on the Steam workshop, I'm not sure how we will get them on the dedicated server (?)

Okay Saturday players and potential players, what are your thoughts?

I'll check out FoW this week.

It'll probably be best to choose one or the other to keep things simple.

I tried the FoW just now. The units are absolutely killer. Like some of the best units I've ever seen in Arma3.

The weapons seem really well done as well. But it's currently so limited. Reminds me of Unsung when it was in Alpha. They say they are working on the Western front, so we should see new maps eventually, but when is the question.

Gonna try IF Lite out now and see how it looks.

The IF Lite stuff is pretty low quality. Not just in looks but the weapons modelling is really sub-par IMO.

The FoW units are limited but much higher quality all around. The only thing I think I'd find useful from IF Lite is the maps and maybe some vehicles (although they don't look so hot either).

If we want to start small, FoW is only 2.7GB and we could do some missions on it's map and parts of Tanoa.

Are there any other standalone WW2 themed maps we could look at?

!Alert!

For those that play SimHQ ARMA 3 on Saturdays, there has been an update to the IFA3_AIO_Lite mod (WW2 stuff). Better get Steam cranked up before Saturday. (Server side too! smile )

It was around a 1.2GB download.

Hi Meat.

There was a hotfix for IFA3_AIO_Lite today. Just wanted to let you know, in case you updated the server prior to the hotfix release. Around 190MB.
