(Happy Friday Y'all!)

This guy walks into bar and orders a scotch. Barkeep places a shot in front of him, the guy slams it down and says "ahh, dewars 1999, a good year."

Barkeep says, "how the hell did you know that?"

Guy answers "well, you could pour any shot of scotch in the bar and I can not only tell you what it is, but the year it was made"

Barkeep, "aww bullcrap, I'll bet you $100 I can stump you"

Guy "bring it on"

So barkeep turns around and pours the guy another shot and the guy says, "chivas regal, 2004...a so-so year"

Barkeep is amazed and goes for double-down and tries one more...same result with guy naming maker and vintage!

In frustration, the barkeep tells the guy "ok wise guy, one more time and this time I'll bet you $1000"
The guy says confidently "bring it on"

So the barkeep turns around and whizzes in a shot glass and gives it to the guy. The guy takes the shot, spits it out all over the bar and loudly proclaims "that tastes like piss!"

Barkeep calmly replies "I know what is smartass, how old am I?"

~Bill

In my defense, I was left unsupervised...

Scotch expert orders Dewars?

I'm not sure I believe this story!

LOL! I was thinking the same thing. That would be like saying that vodka experts order Smirnoff.

James Bond drank Smirnoff, therefore, your argument is invalid.

biggrin

EDIT: I think he (Connery) also did a Dewar's ad, so that goes to show you how much Bond knows about good liqueur.

Dewars and Chivas Regal are both blended whisky and have many different ages and brands of whisky in their make up, come to think of it I have not seen Dewars in many, many years, the blending house, bottling plant and distribution warehouse at long gone there is a Holiday Inn Express built on the site now ... So I call horse pucky on the story wink

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

in the mid 80s Dewar's White Label whisky started to disappear from the shelves, I know we stopped stocking it in the late 70s and started stocking Famous Grouse instead, the large bonded warehouse/blending house for Dewar's white label whisky is completely gone, I used to drive past it on my way to/from Glasgow, it was on the North side of Perth where the new roundabout is and the site has been completely redeveloped into a carvery restaurant and Holiday Inn, there is also a Landrover dealership on the site as well, there is also a 4 lane road runs through part of where the site is

It is still available, but to be honest I have not seen it on the shelves of any place in Scotland in years.

cheers

Is that just an FYI, or do you feel that when I buy Royal Brackla, I really bought "Dewars"?

Last night at my granddaughters party after her Communion my son opened an old special bottle of Glen Rothes Speyside single malt, while everyone raved about it, it just reinforces my opinion that whisky is only fit for washing engines down biggrin
