How many of you still buy dvd's and bluray discs for movies and tv shows you really like and how many of you have dropped physical media in favor of streaming and video on demand?
I still buy dvd's and bluray discs for the stuff that I REALLY like but I also don't buy nearly as many as I used to a few years ago.

Not for years Panzer.I have a 'cherished' collection of DVD's that I keep but only my laptop has a DVD drive. No TV for over 3 years, don't miss it tbh.
Yeah I still grab DVDs even now when I see a nice one. For example, I'll definitely be picking up the Game Of Thrones complete boxset when the show is eventually concluded (sometime next year I guess).

I couldn't stream even if I wanted to so all of my stuff is on disc. But I don't buy much anymore, already have all that I'm interested in (although I'm open to something new if it really catches my attention).

I usually only buy older CD's like Das Boot,,Battle of Britain,,Pork Chop hill, etc,,And not all war movies O brother where art thou is in the mix.Although reading here I think Thr Good Bad and Ugly trilogy might be next along with the Duke in the Searchers...None of the newer series grabs me I guess the last one i kind of liked was Mars
I do both. That applies to books, sort of, as well. Some things are special enough to have a physical copy (especially things like my signed copy of Jim Lovell's Apollo 13), but my Kindle library has nearly 1000 titles in it.
Gave up buying DVD`s and Blu-rays years ago. Purely digital now and mostly 4k. I do back them up to Blu-ray disks though. Also bought 4/4tb potable drives that I keep others backed up on. Have all these racks full of DVD`s and Blurays cases now to figure out what top do with. Since all of them are already digital on my computer. Have about 450 movies in my computer. Oh yes, forgot about all my Itunes movies and TV shows. Same story, I never use their Cloud services. Hate it.

Still buy mainly Bluray, not migrated to 4k yet as I don't have anything that can show that resolution. I stream a little but only when I cannot get the program on Bluray. I do have a lot of my DVDs/Blurays on a media server that I can stream within the house.

I have another three racks to the right of the door in the pic plus I have a few in the lounge under the telly, also some upstairs in the rack in the bedroom too.

I still buy some DVDs/BR, wife bought all the Game of Throne's seasons on DVD and the last BR I bought was 13 Hours. I watch a lot of movies 3-4 times so it makes sense to just purchase

Don't forget the sVHS video recorder there too, oh and the mini disk deck, I used mini disks in the car for a while, I'm afraid my 8 track gave up the ghost a long time ago!
Back in Scotland I have an old but good turntable and stereo system, it was good in the early 70s ... and it still plays very well now. I'm in the middle of decorating that room but when I go home in May and finish it I'll post up some pics of the system.

VHS isn't really old school to me, have I fallen *that* far behind?
Now 8-track goes a ways back, one day I plan to have a similar setup as this, if just as a conversation piece...

Heh, VHS. The last pre-recorded movie I got on VHS was the Phantom Menace in late 1999.

My two biggest wedding gifts (Jan. of '88) were a microwave (parents) and VHS (mother-in-law). That one eventually died but I do have a couple more. I'm never getting rid of my bedroom JVC TV (purchased during Desert Storm).
I have tons of VHS movies plus lots of recorded History Channel stuff (Modern Marvels, other war/aircraft), and even more DVDs. But I've only recently purchased my first Bluray player (main DVD player died). Wife surprised me not long ago with the entire 007 James Bond boxset collection on Bluray.

I still like to get stuff on DVD, Blu-ray and even 3D Blu-ray. It's nice having the streaming option but at some point that could go away on the whim of the hosting company. For example I think I've heard of a few times where Amazon has deleted books off of people's Kindles. Of the older video stuff I still have a lot of VHS tapes, though mostly recorded stuff and a bunch of LDs. I also have a number of 8-tracks but that's because my Corvette has a player so I had a few people go, "here, you might be able to use these, take them...". As far as I know the player works but even when they were new the tapes had a reputation for being "eaten" so I figure why risk it so the tapes haven't been tested.
I like the physical media, it just seems to be less hassle and has higher quality audio and video. Also, it seems that for streaming you need to sign up for different services to get a good cross section, or if you pay per use, it would be as much as a disc if you wanted to watch it a few times, as I usually do.
