Okay folks, the latest version is out, just in time for the Easter Holidays I presume. It's free, it's a full installer, it brings better frame rates in some scenes that were particularly hard hit in previous versions 4.0, so those are all good news I guess. smile

Magnum, there was an error in the links to download 4.019 when it was first posted on the eSim Games download page. you need to go back to that page and re-download Parts 3 and 5. your installation will then be successful.

http://www.esimgames.com/?page_id=1390

p.s.
if you notice in the screenshot in your post the file names for parts 3 and 5 show the name 4_010 where the correct downloads will show 4_019 in the file names.

Must be getting old, would of noticed that before... now a days... I want no part of PC complications, everything needs to be nice, smooth, and easy or on to the next... SB Pro PE being the exception. wink

It may be your browser cache interfering?
Force a reload of the page to get the updated links. I mean, they wrong links were corrected about half an hour after the page went live, so there's no reason why you should keep getting wrong results. If in doubt, change the browser, and be it just for that download.

worked the 3rd time... a year or so ago I would of noticed that the downloads weren't in order, that the exe file wasn't first, and would of troubleshooted and found the problem myself... now days I'm old and lazy... working now, no problems. wink

Well, maybe a tad on the snarky side.

The real answer is that as always things depend on what our internal development schedule and the development contracts with other customers actually allow us to do "on the side" (and few vehicles can actually be done "on the side"; in most cases it's a major effort that requires full attention of the team). So, there's always a certain chance that we would do such a thing. But practical feasibility is a different matter. It is much easier said "Let's do a T-90" than actually done.

Personally I'd like to have every major MBT and IFV with fully modeled crew stations and fire control system in Steel Beasts as much as any other guy. But I also have a responsibility as the director for the long-term success of the company and the product itself. We cannot afford just adding more combat vehicles to the mix, we also have to advance the terrain engine, the AI, the render engine, redo the user interface code, and more.

but you dont understand... we want to make full out missions and have like REAL 2000's and 2017 Russian armor not like an M60 vrs a barely modern T72 .... just guess and make them.... you guys are smart... you know what the stats and capabilities are for the T80 and T90's for the most part and what tech they have inside... just put a disclaimer on them saying that they are not exact reproductions.... ill pay for it... ill pay 50 dollars for a DLC pack.

Speak for your self W-moldrrs i prefer the older post war Tanks there's more skill involved.
Take the T-62,spot your target track him add lead watch the round drop short and panic while the auto ejection system realigns the turret while your Opfor turns his turret in your direction
I swear sometimes i have seen my whole life flash by . LoL
If you were facing a Russian modern Tank battalion it would more then likely be using a T72B variant then the T-90 or even the T-14.

If you are trying to tell me that the game couldn't be a LOT better with a workable T80/T90 then I dont know what to tell you... Trust me if Snake could snap his fingers are add them he would in a hot second... more sales and more options.. not only with gamers but with government organizations... but like he said, lots of things to consider.

Not disagreeing with you W-molders.
I would really like to see the T-80BV as a playable addition to SB the ability to fire cannon lunched ATGMs would be great.
I do sometimes create missions with more modern vehicles.
to each his own but for me there more tension when haven't got a ninety percent chance of a first round hit and kill.
I love to see tanks take hits but keep on fighting.

I got some intermittent but serious directx issues with other games after installing this update and the packaged DirectX redist. Reinstalling 9c from Microsoft fixed it.

Just a heads up, it may well have been a bad install on my side.

Possible --- but error correction should normally prevent that to such a high degree that I think that other explanations are vastly more likely, Namely, a harddisk going bad, or a faulty RAM stick, or a third party software interfering.

You should be on the lookout for other strange things. Typically users notice (but subconsciously choose to ignore) the symptoms of faulty computer systems for months and write it off as "user error" or other rationalizations that prevent a clear look at the problem.

Hi ssnake,

nice to see you here at SimHQ too. Once again many thanks for your quick support with my actvation problem!

Is there any chance to see a FlakPz Gepard in the near future? Hadn't much time to play sbpro 4 at the moment, cause I'm busy with my homepit project and it's no fun to play it on my laptop with it's integrated Intel HD graphic card. It's more like a stop motion movie on this machine biggrin .

I missed the Gepard so much in the vehicle park. I thought as there are all the different Leo versions in the sim, there is also a version of a Gepard. I love this "tank" so much cause I had the chance back in 1989 to do a simulated shot on a virtual Mig-21 in one Gepard which was connected to a kind of simulator recreating air threats.

As far as I remember it took place in a shelter of the FlaRgt Sigmaringen, where 4 or 6 Gepards (couldn't remember exactly) were connected to this simulator. It was a part of my visit of the Heeresfliegerregiment 20 near Tuttlingen. For a 20 year old boy it was an real impressive thing, to get the control over such a beast. I also get bruised in that action, cause the turret turns really rapidly if it is following a target biggrin ! I had the hope that I could see the inside of this beast once again in sbpro, to bring back some memories.

Regards Viper

You could use the 2S6 Tunguska as a stand in depending on the period your setting your mission in just remove the missiles via the mission editor.
later versions of the Gepard did mount a stinger missile i believe.
Try the German 911 VU website for a pretty decent German Camo for the Gepard .

Since you are specifically asking about the "near" future, the answer is clearly "No".
As far as I understand it, no army is using the thing anymore. Therefore there isn't even a theoretical chance that we might win that army as a customer who in turn would ask us to add the Gepard as a vehicle with crew positions. This means that we

1) have to do it on our own
. 1a) when we have the time for it
. 1b) with our own money

2) provided that we get access to such a vehicle

3) and an expert who can tell us everything that we need to know

This is not "impossible", but already a pretty long shot. The stars will have to align perfectly to give us such an opportunity. The next best outcome is a 3D model without crew stations. And the next next best option is to use the Tunguska without missiles, and a Gepard-lookalike modified texture as a stand-in, which incidentally is possible already.
