I wanted to do some stuff on a tabletop dell optiplex PC. Doing them requires internet, but unfortunatelly the optiplex has no WiFi, I have no WiFi device(usb or internal) neither Im willing to buy one. I was wondering wether or not its possible to use a netbook as a wifi for the optiplex by connecting it via ethernet. The other solution is to run an ethernet cable through half my house in order to connect it to the modem, which is not practical at all.

These might help:

Alternatively, this Google search will turn up a lot of links to possible solutions, but many of them are Linux based.

I "Share" my network sometimes.

My Mainboard has 2 GBit Lan Ports, I usually Team them, but sometimes I bridge to another device (console or laptop).

Basically run a Cat5 cable to other device, goto control panel, select the main LAN Adapter and choose Share, and it will share it's connection w/ the 2nd LAN Port or any Wifi Cards.

Basically PC acts as a Router and Assigns Local IP Addresses.

When I'm Sharing I do have some issues w/ Media Sharing though due to conflicts w/ DHCP from router and Windows IP Addresses.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck.”
