Not all VAT in the UK is 20%.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value-added_tax_(United_Kingdom)
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Wow, 20%. That's crazy from my point of view.
Not bad at all, IF it were the ONLY tax. IE no income tax etc.

True. This is Europe we're talking about though so they have every tax that has ever been created by mankind. Let's keep political shots out of this simple question.

(And I can prove it) We have that in the UK too, on fuel, and on alcohol are two that spring readily to mind Edit: To put some figures on it The excise duty burden on a 70cl bottle of Scotch is £8.05 and the total tax is £10.20. which works out at about 79% of the cost of a bottle of Whisky

To put some figures on it
The excise duty burden on a 70cl bottle of Scotch is £8.05 and the total tax is £10.20. which works out at about 79% of the cost of a bottle of Whisky
Lower effective tax rate is a good reason to buy more expensive whisky.

No VAT in Hong Kong. I'll wait until the Hurri pops up on the local market. I did it before for my Spit.
Cheers, Slug
