Funny article smile

Quote
The company argues that every extra kilogram of weight forces Aeroflot to spend more on fuel.

Not too sure whether it's sexist or comes under the "constructive dismissal" descriptive.

Well, I just have one question to ask.

Does Aeroflot have any short, thin male cabin attendants?

"Staff have to meet a minimum height requirement because they need to store hand luggage in the overhead lockers, Aeroflot says. "
I guess not. smile

This "controversy" reminds me about the guy who sued Hooters restaurants in the US because they wouldn't hire him and he claimed gender discrimination.

@Immermann - Oops. I should have said tall not short.

I fly at least 4-6 per month for work. Honestly I'm tired of hearing about weight restrictions on luggage when the flight attendants are grumpy 50+ years old and are wider than the aisle.

Bravo Aeroflot.

I'm gonna guess that the Russians couldn't give two craps about what the BBC thinks of Aeroflot's hiring practices.

I'm sure also, but the article isn't about the BBC's opinion.

Opening sentence in the article- "Russia's flagship carrier Aeroflot is fighting a legal battle with several of its female flight attendants who say it favours slim and attractive cabin crew."

Well, who doesn't ?

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Slim, young, pretty and slightly coquettish is very much a norm for female flight attendants in Asia.
Not a critical problem, really.

Cheers,
Slug
