I am thinking of upgrading to windows 10. I run mostly flight sims. My current hardware is TM Warthog, Saitek pedals, and other Saitek hardware, trackIR, TM MFD. Has anyone had any problems with these devices when upgrading to Win10?

Should I upgrade from Win 7 64 to Win 10 64 home edition?

A little known fact is that MS is still allowing free Win10 upgrade installs with Windows 7 (or 8.1) keys. But also consider that that ties up that Windows 7 license to Windows 10, so you could not have both installed at the same time. After you upgrade, however, you can then do clean installs on the same machine without installing the previous Windows version (if you upgrade or change machines you will need to call MS to "transfer" the key to the new hardware).

As for compatibility, if your devices do not offer a native Windows 10 driver/installer, your best bet is to do an in place upgrade from a working Windows 7 install to Windows 10, A clean install may have mixed results.

TrackIR 5 works for me.

My Saitek Combat pedals and Saitek X-55 Rhino work, as does the new version of the control software.

I would not know about the Warthog and MFDs.

EDIT: If you are upgrading from a Pro version, go with Pro for Windows 10. If you are upgrading from Home, it will only allow the Win 10 home version.

I'll fully recommend Win10 Anniversary Edition. Depending on your setup, the Creators Update may not be for you... or install Win10 AE first then patch up to CU.

I have not had any device problems after upgrading to Windows 10, from 7 64bit. My Saitek X45 and Microsoft XBox 360 controller work perfectly (I do not run any Saitek drivers or profiling software, however).

The main drawbacks have been that I do not care for the UI design, and far worse, the Windows Updates have been interfering with my gameplay. I had to miss one multiplayer session a couple weeks back because Windows 10 was downloading stuff during my play, and there was no way (at least not that I am aware of) to stop or pause this action. Then all of last week, each time I start up Windows 10 to play a game, I had to wait about 20 minutes for whatever was downloading (and using 100% of my bandwidth) to finish, before I could play. Windows 10 did go through an update action/reboot after 5 or 6 days of that downloading, and for now, at least, it seems I can again use my games immediately after starting Windows, without any need for some downloads to end first.

If someone is playing offline games, this may not be a problem. I mostly play multiplayer games and Elite Dangerous, so the heavy background bandwidth use ruined the play for the most part.

There appears to be good news coming in the form of the Windows 10 "Creators" edition (IIRC), which will reportedly give me some choices regarding allowing to delay or reschedule an update download until after my gaming session. I still have not got this "Creators" update, so I can't comment first hand. But my fingers are crossed for regaining some control over my computer.

Ice, what does this mean? Are there some potential issues?

I thought that the Creators Update was something every Windows 10 PC was going to get, no other choice?

See my posts over this thread to get an idea. I will say it seems to be setup-specific, so upgrade with caution. I've set my PC not to update to Creators Update and I plan to roll-back in case it does.

To be honest, ICE's issue was more related to an no longer supported, open sourced program that turned out to no longer be compatible after the latest update of Windows 10.

I am surprised that anything changed so much between aniversary and CU that that Helios stopped working, but I would say that it is not fair to turn that specific issue into a cautionary tale to avoid the update. Lot's of old software stops working with updates.

But if you must use software that is no longer supported in newer versions, then it is true you should try to check what option works for you.

I personally have not had a single issue in 3 computers and one Surface 4 Pro tablet I have run the update in.

Helios support is one, then there was also the issue where my main screens would lose display input and only my touchscreens would show the desktop... no way to fix it except to restart the PC using my PC case's reset button. This issue persisted whether I had 1 or 2 touchscreens connected.

That is why I say my issues are "setup-specific." Anyone with just two monitors (display and touchscreen) or with three monitors on an Eyefinity/Surround config may never encounter the issues I mentioned above.

I just want to note that I did the creators update and since update it has screwed up MadCatz Saitek SST software.
To did get the Saitek Software working in Windows 10 but it was a pain but I had it working and it was great eventually prior to Creators Update.

I have an older Saitek P2600. Running Smart Technology 7_0_27_13 64Bit.exe for software.

I know its unrelated to your pedals but I just want to confirm Creators update bricked that version.

I may have to spend 10 dollars and use Joy2key as a replacement for SST programming Software.

I just got hopeful today to try re-installing and uninstalling software and Mad Catz just hangs at launch.
