Two frigates maneuver for advantage and an ally races to join the fight as the sun rises over Cap Dame Marie, the isle of St. Domingo.

Beautiful shot akdavis thumbsup

I haven't played for a while and got a nice surprise when I logged in yesterday. For the new year players recieved a gift in the form of the Wapen von Hamburg III a fourth rate. Terrific looking ship but a bit too slow and ponderous for my liking, especially since my rank means I can't fully crew her. I think I'll stick to my Renommee for now.
There was a second gift, don't know when from. The Indefatigable, a fifth rate frigate.

Nice pics!!

Some assorted from over the last few months.

Linking up with a friend who just made the sail from Jamaica to Panama. We met in mid-ocean so I could test my nav skills.

4th and 5th Rates screening the main British battlefleet during one of our many attempts at taking Trinidad from the French

Made the journey to the Dutch Caribbean capital of Willemstad. Enjoyed their beautiful architecture and the Dutch laudanum made for good profit during trade runs. 10/10 would outpost here again.

Once again screening for a battle fleet - this time acting as a picket ship on the horizon.

Acting as coast guard and teaching a trade ship that contraband goods are sometimes too costly a haul to make. (It was AI and I was actually using it as a means of teleporting my ship - I'm not a jerk!)

Ever forward!

Nope. They're merging the PvP and PvE servers.... shame really, killed what little interest I had left.

Oh no... I haven't actually played it for ages but I was still thinking of going back to it - if they're merging pvp and pve I'm not sure I will. There's a chunk of the PVP community which is absolutely toxic (most seem to come from the already toxic PVP community of Pirates of the Burning Sea).

As others, I'm sad that such an awesome engine wasn't used for single player gameplay. I'd have hours of fun just sailing some of these boats in the realistic mode (sadly currently only accessible in combat) outside of any combat.

My exact thoughts, the combat sailing was near perfect, the open world sucked. Apparently the new server will be split between PvE and PvP via geographical zones similar to Warcraft style MMOs. I've already uninstalled but I've got plenty more screens to sift through.

They've turned around on the PVE server merging with PVP. I can't disagree more with you on the Community! There's been a few bad apples (like with any collection of people) but I find the majority of the pop on PVP1 at least on the Great Britain faction to be pretty helpful and supportive. The rush and excitement of tangling with a player and they pull moves and use strategies you'd never see in an AI. I tangled with a French Saint Cecilia off La Navasse and we traded broadside after broadside. I was in an Indefatigable so he had the speed and maneuverability but I was able to use some tricks to land enough hits to put him into repairs. We ended up at an impasse and gave each other a salute and went our separate ways. Pretty phenomenal experience!

Hope you can come back to it before too long smile
