Shred, that was great, like you said...very moving. Are you there now? I'm in Andrea on the Isle of Man.

Are you staying the week in France?

In Arras tonight, heading for Amiens in the morning. We drove up right along the Front, from the Marne up to Lille. The name of every town, every village, jumped out at me, wanting me to stop, every name so well known. After Amiens, we will loop along the Normandy coast down to Mont St Michel, then head back to enjoy the beauty of Paris for a week
Cheers

Thanks for sharing! I hope you enjoyed your trip in France! I was at Arras on Sunday and visiting Wellington Tunnels (finally!) at the moment of the Vimy Ceremony. Pity that I missed the Nieuports, but I have heard that Lens-Bénifontaine (Vimy Flight base for the commemorations) will receive more WW1 replicas in September for a Franco-Canadian meeting.

One quit impressive picture shot during Vimy Flight training over Vimy:

Shred, don't forget to visit Pointe du Hoc, Pegasus Bridge, and St. Mere Gliese. You have to see those places... amazing.

While you're in Arras, they have a city center market. The cheese is fantastic. Take your time at each location, they are somber and offer a true sense of respect for those that gave all.

Have a great time. When I did that tour, I was in awe the whole length.

All the best...

James

Of all the Normandy sites, Pegasus bridge is the most highly recommended. The Grondin family cafe is still there at the end of the bridge. Good museum too.

Google "Manor de l'Acherie" near Villedieu-les-Poeles, south of St Lo. Great fine dining at an affordable price. Good stop going or coming from Mont St Michel.

Don't forget the Bayeaux Tapestry if you have time...

Damn, can I come too?
