Well here's your chance!

The world's first (and one of only two in existence) DIY collimated display that my friend Wayne & I built 5-ish years ago needs to find a new home, FAST.
You can see the project here: http://www.diy-cockpits.org/coll

The system is located in Auburn, WA and due to its size, cannot be shipped.

I can tell you're yelling, "HOW MUCH!" at your monitor right now. How's "free" grab ya? biggrin

Yep, it's essentially free for the pickup. Wayne & I would rather give it away than see it hit a landfill and I simply don't have the space for it any longer.
The projectors are not included for free, but Wayne is willing to sell them. They're Epson 720P projectors - a Triple Head 2 Go (digital or analog) is also needed, and Wayne might sell that too.

If you need setup help, we'd be willing to help for a small fee. smile (we're not out to get rich, we just want to see it go to a good home!)

If you're interested, contact me at geneb at deltasoft dot com.

The system will fit in a 12x12 room, but it will NOT fit through a door! We got it into Wayne's office through the window, so... wink

That is impressive work Gene. I hope it goes to a good home that appreciates the work that goes into it.
Seeing the larger ones on the full motion sims here at work, I know what this can do for a sim.

Good luck!
Jeff

Thanks Jeff! I actually designed a 737 sized version that a friend in Colorado built. smile I wish I had pics of it, but the room it's in is too small to get far away enough to take pics. smile

Nope! Not yelling that at all. More like "WHY AM I ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE POND??!?!!"

Jesus, that is just down the road. If my wife would have let me build that shop that she has promised me for the last four years I would jump all over this.

Thanks. It looks like Wayne may be able to ship it if he crates it himself. I'll post again if that doesn't work out.

Question I'm going to regret asking: Would this fit in the back of, say, a short-bed Toyota tacoma by any chance...

I've never been out west, or even driven across the country, and late last year treated myself to a brand spankin' new pickup truck for my 30th b-day.

I'm starting to get a dangerous idea...

Update:

Crap, it would work:

[Linked Image]

Crap. Crap crap crap.

I don't have room, I don't have the projectors (or immediate cash for them), and "why would you bother with there being VR out there?"

But, maybe some of the local museums do. Would be a huge draw, especially for kids. Crrrrraaaaaap.

I need to sleep on this. And by sleep, I mean lie awake in bed thinking about driving across the entire country with a giant flight sim screen in the bed of my truck.

The struggle is real. smile

Don't go planning a vacation quite yet though - Wayne may be able to crate it himself. If so, shipping will "only" be $2k, which he'd be up for.
