If you had used a different font, it wouldn't be such an obvious April Fools joke...everything else seems extremely accurate and plausible.

Well, if the Swiss version doesn't have A-G capabilities, shouldn't it be called the F-18 Hornet? Isn't the "/A" supposed to denote A-G "attack" capability?

Intel from a very reliable source now says that you can equip the F/A-18 Hornet with A-G ordnance for less than the $99.98 price tag suggests. For $10, you can get A-G munitions, although in limited quantities only. Might be useful for those who aren't sure if the A-G attack role is for them. After all, ED is all about giving the customer choices. biggrin

Not in the description but "EagleDynamics Online 1 year pass" to play MP is included in the pre-purchase package as usual.

Oh!! Was there any word about the DCS F/A-18 Season Pass? I hear it'll include the DCS F-18 Hornet, the ground ordnance needed to upgrade it to F/A-18 Hornet, then there's the upcoming Ground Crew DLC, Tanker DLC, improved FM DLC, improved-improved FM DLC, so-real-it-hurts FM DLC, and the Arrestor Hook DLC. If you pre-order the Season Pass, you'll also get the TGP DLC for free when that DLC is released!

Pretty sweet deal if you ask me! biggrin

*DSC Normandy map required for DCS F/A-18 and DCS F/A Season Pass. To fly on other maps, DCS F/A-18 Theatres of Operations expansion will be offered at a later date (ETA ~2032)

Will the aircraft carriers be part of the Normandy AI units pack?

Why is the Asset pack 1 penny cheaper?

You're trying to get a Laugh about this, and Troll Eagle Dynamics.

When FSX/P3D Pilots see it everyday now with VRS/TacPack.

Please give examples. I know that TacPack compatibility costs some money extra on some planes. But the planes then cost around the same as DCS aircraft (see MilViz Phantoms for example)

I hear Switzerland doesn't have any carriers. I hope they didn't compromise on accuracy just to please some US NAVY fanbois, and removed all carrier capabilities from the aircraft, otherwise I won't pay $99.99 for it.

Could've at least used an F/A-18A/C picture. The 2nd pic is a Super Hornet.

Standard Ed:
39.99

TacPack Ed:
49.99 + 39.95-49.95 (Depending on FSX or P3D), License is Not Transferable between the Two).

Ok yes, you are right. You have to pay extra for TacPack. But only once and you can use it with every TacPack ready aircraft.
It's like buying Nevada for 60 USD. You also just have to buy it once and can play with every plane which is 2.0 ready smile2

Buying a Map is not the same as Buying an Aircraft, or a Special Version of the Aircraft at higher Cost + the Weapons Deployment / Systems separate.

That'd be like:
DCS: F/A-18C (Standard)
DCS: F/A-18C (ED Weapons Pack Compatible)
DCS: Modern Era Weapons Pack

in FSX/P3D users dump thousands into terrain textures and airport scenery/objects, I know, I was part of that group,

The p3d/fsx comparisons are irrelevant. VRS and all the other fsx/p3d developers don't work for MS/LM. You buy terrain for FSX, the expensive ones, you're buying a very large area. In some cases the whole world. There is some very good freeware available for those platforms as the SDK is available with the product. The modding of DCS is limited to changing textures. No doubt there are some very good texture artists working with ED but the freely available mods, in some cases, are much better. Aircraft mods, the ones available to the community, are pretty much an external model scabbed onto the wunderluft template using an existing cockpit.
At the end of the day it's a choice. I have had no buyers remorse with any product I've purchased for P3D/FSX, and there have been many, no matter the cost. As for DCSW I regret the mig21, the c101, Nevada. I really need to sit down and dedicate some serious time to CA before I write that off too, same with the huey. Don't get me started on the DCSWW2 debacle.
I know what I'm getting with the P3D products. There are no grey areas in the platform. It is what it is.
DCSW is a mess. Incompatible airframes, for a platform that calls itself a combat simulator, a magical mystery tour of a roadmap that may very well end at the bottom of a cliff, 3rd parties that don't know their arse from their elbow that charge full price for very very very early access to their training program. If the community wasn't so loyal the platform would fold. Let's face it there are very few new players coming, and how does ED reward that loyalty? charge for map assets.

DCS Kickstarter
Wags July 2014 "In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable."
Wags October 2017 "the investment vs. generated revenue has been excellent for the World War II aircraft. In fact, the P-51D Mustang has twice the cost effectiveness of the A-10C Warthog."

It's a fun ride and the ED devs are just riding it and we're all along for the duration of the ride. They have no control over it and they have no idea where it's going. The tracks could end in a brick wall for all they know... but they don't know.

I would not be surprised. Part of me hopes they get their act together, but past experience is hard to ignore.
So might be best to get the popcorn
