Leutnant Rudolf Nebel of Jasta 5 mounted two 'stovepipe' rockets under the wings of his Halberstadt DII and was able to 'scare' one EA to the ground. The rockets were evidently very smokey and visible! He also claimed to have shot off the airscrew of another EA eight days later but his logbook does not corroborate this. He later mounted the 'stovepipe' rockets on his Albatros and was forced to crash land when the fabric on his wings got burned! The info here gleaned from 'Halberstadt Fighters' by P.M. Grosz.
