I have never been comfortable with math, but this is kind of understandable and amazing in it's own right. Or not.

Hi, I'm Larry and this my brother Dayrle, and this is my other brother Dayrle.

Try the Fractal eXtreme demo.

That video is pretty dull compared to what really exists "in there" - way too much zooming into "infinity pits".

It's the points of bifurcation that lead to the most interesting patterns (you don't need to know math, your eyes will figure that one out).

The colormap rate scaling is the bigger challenge - balancing iteration count against what's actually needed for the rendering......

This all sounds complex, but it's really pretty easy if you have it in front of you.....

I had a program for my PC 25 years ago that would graph these things. It took some time to generate on a 386-25DX but it was good fun for someone like me majoring in physics and minoring in math. smile

Didn't you end up absolutely hating your physics and math classes by your senior year in college?

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!
