Was craving pasta, but somehow, anything with tomato sauce didn't sound right.

So I made this baked penne casserole with NY style white pizza sauce. Smoked sausage, Italian sausage, peppers and onions. 6 types of cheese and 6 types of herbs... with plenty or garlicky goodness.

I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing. readytoeat

Kedgeree.

For the uninitiated this is rice cooked with stock, curry spice and turmeric, mixed with smoked haddock, onions and peas, and topped with hard boiled eggs, parsley and butter...

We're not bad often, but sometimes ya just gotta give your stomach what it *really* craves!

I don't think we'll be hitting the track tonight.

Yeah, we're going to have to do that again sometime. Place is called "Fat Cow", a local college hangout...
http://fatcowburgers.com/

Gotta say, tonight's chicken breast salad (see pic below) didn't melt in my mouth like that burger did. And tonight's water with lemon wasn't as delectable as that Creole Cream Cheese Malt (wife's was Pralines and Cream, couldn't even wait 'till she got home).

But my salads are good too, lots of ingredients including a sparse amount of whole wheat pasta (who knew that noodles could enhance a typical spinach salad)? I need to learn to caramelize walnuts, that would rock.

Off to the "gym" to pump off those pasta carbs. smile

Oh boy, oh boy! readytoeat

I was a good boy yesterday at the airshow, didn't eat any corn/cheese dogs, onion ring burgers, chicken fingers w/fries or giant cheese nachos, nor did I drink any sodas. We brought our own lunch, chicken breast spinach wraps (after spinach quiche for breakfast, sans the pastry) and bottled water. Our thermoses did really well, ice had melted but water was still chilled, being the hot day that it was.

As a reward (for both of us), wife snuck off to the store and brought home a really nice surprise!

EDIT: Added 2nd pic...

Oh man, I'm hurtin' (and not just my sunburn)!

Dipping sauce (not a good pic, it's more yellowish) is a mix of...

Mayonnaise
Ketchup
Old Bay Seasoning (Garlic and Herb)
Creole Mustard

So, what's for breakfast?

[Linked Image]

This morning was fried eggs and avocado slices on a bed of spinach, with a side of strawberries.

Been doing this about twice a week for a couple of years now, getting pretty good at it (meaning that I seldom break the yoke).

Locked away in my man cave, I caught a whiff of something good, grabbed my camera and ventured out into the kitchen to investigate. Wife and mom making some kind of soup and cooking veggies (also a whole bunch of sliced and diced veggies not in picture)...

We're doing this thing with a local farmer we found at a farmer's market, $25.00/week for 8 weeks, they deliver a large box of fresh produce once a week, a "grab bag" of whatever they have to deliver. Okra the size of small cucumbers, tomatoes the size of softballs, fresh corn, cabbage, all kinds of stuff. Our Costco bill will be going down. We still plan to make our own vegetable garden and wife wants her laying hens.

Ooooh, a Papa John's "Works"? Man, I love those (everything on it, plus the Jalapeno Pepper sliced up and spread on top). Then dipping the crust into the butter sauce <drooling like Homer Simpson>.

Damn shame, in the boonies you can get a farmer to deliver produce to your door, but good luck with getting a pizza or Chinese. frown

I can't stand oysters. I do love the majority of other seafood items though.

Of all the little sea critters I love to eat (and I haven't found one yet that I don't like), I put oysters at the top of my list. Those were good, put I prefer them raw with cocktail sauce or fried (a splurge on special occasions).

But at least you like most seafood PM, unlike Jedi Master who IIRC hates all seafood. BTW, where's he been lately?

I believe Jedi is allergic to most seafood. As for SimHQ, he's moved on. You won't see him again.

After company left it was too late to bother with cooking, so tonight was a MarkG Special: fake crab and pesto pasta in a spinach wrap, with spinach, avocado and tomato. Served with a side of marinated shrimp...

Wife says it's crawfish melt (over pasta) with oven roasted vegetables (Brussels sprouts, red onions and carrots)...

EDIT: Mom is next door making a homemade banana nut bread for dessert, we're about to bring supper over.

2nd EDIT: Accidently brought camera with me, a couple more pics and a rearrangement.

Dinner tonight, one of my favorites...shrimp wraps. Already have a similar pic two posts up (close enough, except that the shrimp are inside the wrap), so I won't post the ones I took tonight.

I'm no longer so quick to pull out my camera unless dinner is interesting or unusual, and tonight's dinner was outstanding!

Ever heard of zucchini pasta? Wife bought a little gizmo called a "Spiral Slicer" which makes "vegetable spaghetti," and she made this recipe with it...

Only difference is that she added water chestnuts. All it needed was about a pound of large shrimp and it would have been perfection. readytoeat
