You can use it to see the current base and target for each slot by clicking "Show Slot", or select a new base and target. when you click "Show Map"
Editing is done "on the fly".

The file that is edited is the "LastMission.msn" file in the selected slot folder in the "GameData" folder in each of the theatres used in 160.
This file is read and used when you fly a single mission.
A working file from one slot can be copied and pasted to another slot, which either does not have one, or has one which causes problems.
This is particularly useful with small theatres with a reduced target set.

Thanks Jel.

I'm always interested in single missions editors. Any way this can edit any *.msn file, and perhaps edit some of the other parameters?

I am looking at the old MSN editor, with a view to getting it to use "tarnames.str", "airfield.dat" and targets.dat" instead of those 'tco", and "bco" files.
The latest 160 file manager automatically makes a "planes.tco" file when you select a planeset, so one can be loaded from the current planeset folder.

wink

It is working Moggy, but there are a couple of code issues we need to discuss smile

The map is an optional extra smile

Possible to set the actual date and time? This can be done in the single missions mission screen in the game, but would be very useful to be able to do it here.

OK we can decipher the mission date value and edit it:
[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

In the latest exe I have disabled the version check routine for the "*.msn" file. The CRC check had already gone, but I picked up on a version check line that remained.

I have just about rewritten this editor, based on the source code.

Several values in the "*.msn" files are not used, and others are over-written in other routines.
In the screenie the mission year is 1941 but the setting in the "year" radio button (1940) over-rides it when you fly a single mission with the "*.msn" file loaded.
However, the time and date are used smile

I was able to make a completely new mission from scratch and it worked!
The only settings I have not yet made editable are the interdiction type and size which replaced two previously unused values in the "*.msn" file.

wink

The code issue that I alluded to is this.
The "*.msn" files we create have to be read from "Slot00-29" folders in the "GameData" subfolder of the active theatre.
This is great for the "lastmission.msn" file, but it would be nice to have the ones we make residing in a folder which is accessed by the "load" routine.

I will see what can be done.

I have it working as I want it to but I need someone to make something for me smile

[Linked Image]

We need a bigger sprite or whatever the background is.
The description in the "*.msn" file can be quite long, so it can contain the theatre and planeset. However, there is not enough room to display it.

The files are being read from a "MSNfiles" folder in the root smile

I have managed to make a bit more room, but I suspect that the graphic is embedded in the mnu file as a raw file.

[Linked Image]

There is a heap of data in the mnu file, after the text.
Does anyone know how the graphic is generated?

This is great stuff Jel.

In the continuing work on Dunkirk 1.6 I have the saved mission files in slot folders under the Gamedata folder in the theatre folder, which are then accessed by the load routine.

I have gone back to the slots.
The "load" routine is heavily locked into the slider. So I have decreased the height of the graphic, and moved the slider

[Linked Image]

I should do this for the "save" routine wink

No big list needed when you can select the target and the HB off the map
