Hi all, Many of you are creating enhancements and mods for use in WOFF UE. In many cases WOFF UE 'flyers' could benefit from having mods included in official patches released by OBD.
However, where desired, it would be a time consuming business for the OBD team to contact each creator to arrange for the inclusion of their mods into an OBD patch release.
Therefore, OBD will assume that the creator's mods for use in WOFF UE can be included in official patch releases from OBD, unless of course, the individual concerned objects to this, by contacting OBD directly.

Is this an Official OBD statement? My only concern would be that OBD would not have any idea of what can or cannot be includex, without spending the time to investigate the operational nature of each mod. It's either spend the time to do so, or contact the modder directly. What is your view on this, or OBD's view.

Another concern to add to the list: As many of the aerodrome mods contain Geezer's additional items and figures I should think he would need to be contacted about any such inclusions of his work in a "for profit" package, though I imagine this has likely already been considered by the devs.

Good point OldHat, that would work nicely.

Hi all, This was suggested by 'Pol' at OBD as a means of incorporating mods (not every mod) into WOFF UE via OBD patches. However, you have raised good points, which need to be addressed before any such move is put into place. The intention was not to alienate or take advantage of creators of the mods. OBD would of course contact individuals if it was planned to incorporate their mod into WOFF UE.
I've mailed Pol and asked him to take a look at your comments to see if this idea can be taken forward.
Thanks.

Pol, as far as my mods go, you already know you are more than welcome to include any or all of them in future updates you make to WOFF. My concern more than anything was keeping the ability for folks to choose which mods they prefer. I for one use some, but not all, of the wonderful mods currently offered by the community.

Trouble with 40LM effects is that they can be a giant FPS killer with his higher resolutions .dds, especially for people with less powerful PC's.

sry to say that I did get FPS hits with the mod. But some of the effects were very good.... so I removed the files that I didn't want and now the Sim runs fine. Also, to be honest, I didn't like all of the effects, and that would be a reason not to put such things into officail updates.

Yes, that is the problem with all inclusive, complex mods. You can't please all the people, all of the time, and that is why we have mods. With mods, people can make changes to suit their environment and this is not easy to accomplish if a mod like this one is added to WOFF as it stands now. Maybe portions of it could be added and those that aren't could be broken down into multiple mods for user selection. This is of course just my thoughts and in no way am I slamming 4L0M's work. He has done wonders with the effects mod in general. Best Regards;

Trouble with 40LM effects is that they can be a giant FPS killer with his higher resolutions .dds, especially for people with less powerful PC's. Giant FPS killer? err, no. All my environment textures (New Trees/New building roofs, shorelines,Ground season texture tiles etc) are all exactly the same size as stock. A few of my FX textures are bigger than stock Woff, but only like double the size in 99% of cases, bearing in mind that that's taking a 256x256 pixel texture and making it 512x512px ( a 512x512px DXT5 .dds is 341kb, which is miniscule compared to any modern game engine, case in point being Fallout 4's new HD texture pack, which weighs in at a whopping 58GB ! ! ! ! just for a texture pack. ) My point being, unless you are running the lowest of the low graphics card, I genuinely can't see how anyone can take a frame hit with any of my textures, and if you do, I seriously doubt stock Woff is much fun playing. The only texture I have massively made bigger were the moon textures which are 16 times bigger than the original bearing in mind the originals were only 64x64px........but then that still only makes them 1MB in size, which is nothing. My modding policy is that every mod that I have ever made for any game is free to use by anyone for whatever they want as you see fit, All i ask is that I get a credit for the work. In regards to WOFF, you CANNOT use any of my cloud texture mods, as I have used some 3rd party assets, Cheers !

I have a low end video card and my current financial situation prevents me from getting a spiffy new one right now. Keeping that in mind, in addition to a few graphics anomalies, I have also noticed more random crashes of WOFF when using 4L0M's cloud mod, probably because they are overtaxing my system. If his changes are incorporated into the sim via a patch, I would be less able to avoid CDT's that I can now avoid simply by disabling the mod.

Read above. My clouds can't be incorporated into the sim full stop.
EDIT : also, ALL edited clouds in the cloud mod are double the size, so this mod over any other WILL effect you if you have a low end GPU.
I also agree with Lederhosen, that you can't please everyone with everything, be it FX, audio or whatever. I try to do what I think looks good and try to keep it within realism, but obviously everyone's tastes are different.

It would be nice to confirm the reality of the statement so that the issue (if there is an issue), could be resolved. Are you able to do further testing, remove other mods, and focus on his cloud mod to help get to a solid conclusion? It would also be nice to know exactly what your hardware configuration is, as this may help in the analysis. Best Regards;

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything is wrong with your mod, 4L0M. Any problems with your mod are purely on my end. As I said, I have a very weak card, I think it is a NVidia GTX 460 v.2, a three or four year old card.
As far as the crashes, I had maybe two or three crashes total with WOFF unmodded. It was only after using his cloud mod that I began to see crashes on a more regular basis (once every three or four missions). But, again, I'm sure this is due to my card and not any defect in the mod itself.

I look forward to any of the mods incorporated with in a WOFF "up date download". One would hope that the mods would be on a list that we could choose to add or not add as we choose.
Origin made- silverstone case,ASUS Max VI Extreme , CPU intel Core i7 4770k, cooling asotex 570LC, NVIDA 3G GTX 780 Ti , Mem 16GB Kingston Hyper X DDR3 ,game drive 120GB INTEL X25 SS, OS drive 1TB, Win 7 home Prem.Logitech G105 key board,BenQ XL2430 Gaming Monitor.
