I came across a container with what I think is an upgrade to a weapon. Can you upgrade weapons? I'm still trying to learn the details of this game.

You find attachments, but some are specific to the ammo, some to the type of weapon. Some crossover, but most are pretty specific.

Some weapons are not able to be altered, either. It varies.
