Well, you could take it back and apply that to the cost of a smart tv. You'll just continually want a bigger one though. LOL Listen to what we said though, Sony and apparently Samsung don't play well with Netflix. LOVING our Sharp, a very well priced 4k 60". Tried a vizio, but they didn't have the common sense to include a decent remote that could even work the MENU. It went back. LOL

So 200 bucks for a bigger TV to allow us to play the "free" streaming device. Life is weird.
Bummer. Well, if you want to stay close to the 30" screen size, and you want to get the best use of your Best Buy gift card money... Best Buy has a 32" 1080p TV with ROKU built in. Sharp - 32" Class (31.5" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - Smart - HDTV - Roku TV - BlackYou could get a refund, as suggested earlier, on your ROKU, and apply it to the TV. The remote won't have the same features as the Ultimate unit you bought, but you can always install the ROKU app on your smart phone to get the additional whiz bang features that way.

She wants to go with a larger TV, of course.
Hmmm, might get the smart TV and then put the Roku box on the TV in her office.

Follow up - the Roku is brilliant. The streaming stuff is perfect with no buffering in the middle of stuff, including football games, but the real genius is the headset connector on the remote. At first I thought it was kind of gimmicky, but the ability to watch TV silently to everyone else had been a godsend. 1) The wife works from home, so I have to play church mouse most of the time. Now I can watch stuff and not disrupt her. 2) The wife and I have very different tastes on what we watch, so I don't have to listen to pendantic analysis of The Walking Dead and she doesn't have to listen to flavors of the 18th century. The only downsides: Driving the ear buds from the remote burns through batteries. I've changed them twice; the first was no biggie, as I used the ones included. The second set made me think hmmmm, and now I'm using my el cheapo Harbor Freight AA's as they're cheap and lasting as long as Duracells. It never turns off, and any bump of the remote will turn the TV on. So if one falls asleep with the remote on the bed after turning the TV off, it will wake one up if jostled.

I know I mentioned the capability earlier, but since this might be a worthwhile alternative for the situation you just described, I'll bring it up again...
As an alternative to using the Roku remote and messing with AA batteries, you could install the Roku app on your smartphone or tablet, and use it as a remote. You could have the smartphone (or tablet) driving wired ear buds, or transmitting to Bluetooth ear buds or headset. The way I run mine is the Android smart phone sits on the night stand, plugged into a charger, and transmitting to my Bluetooth Motorola ear buds. I still mostly use the Roku remote for menu navigation, but that doesn't drain the remote's batteries quickly. The Bluetooth ear buds, like the smartphone are rechargeable... I just charge them up between uses.

Rechargeable batteries are cheap these days and save a TON of batteries. Get twice as many as you need and you've always got as set to swap out. I do that for my bedroom headphones and 360 controller. Very cheap on Amazon, but not bad just at the grocery store too.

Before I bought a smart TV with built in capabilities I was pleased with Roku, and the new Roku boxes are much better than what I had then. Update to my previous. Some apps just never worked as well on my Vizeo smart TV as i would have liked so I recently bought a new Roku, the cheapest model for $30. Roku is as good, or better, than I remembered. Hard to beat.
