This is great. You can definitely see the stylistic influence from Westworld in this.

But seriously, after the cool teasers for Prometheus turned out to have very little to do with the film, I am not putting much stock in this having any real meaning within the film. Also after Prometheus, I'm not really expecting much from this movie, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Huh? Westworld aired last fall, starting in Oct. Principal photography on the film began on April 4, 2016, in New Zealand. Filming wrapped on July 19, 2016.

Ridley Scott does not have a time machine, and he wasn't involved in Westworld, so the connection you are implying is not possible. Parallel development, neither was able to influence the other.

Did you watch the teaser? This is relatively recent new extra footage that expands on the Alien Covenant universe. This is not part of the film that was shot in NZ.

I wonder if David will somehow get infected and that's how the alien comes out silicon based and acid blood?

We need to contact Fleshlight right away. If anyone knows how to impregnate plastic, it's them.

I might guess, as in "Spock's Brain", that David was able to instruct her smile

She's a Ph.D and most likely David guided her on what to do.

Who knows, maybe she took a "body" shop class in high school? (see what I did there?)
She wasn't building him from scratch, she was doing repairs. I can repair a computer, but I can't create a cpu.
Prometheus takes place over 70 years in the future. Think about what we can do that people in the 1940's wouldn't think possible.

Call me a pessimist but I don't see us having the space travel, AI, medical and hyper-sleep technology that you see in the film in 70 years.

In a simpler system, I would say, sure, but not with a complex system.

Imagine you get to do a heart bypass operation and you are given oral instructions by a surgeon, nothing more. Would you say you would do the whole thing proficiently? Would a person from 70 years from now would do it proficiently?

I was thinking more along the lines that she would have the intellectual capacity to learn quickly. smile

At :46, he's walking her through it. "Green to green, red to red. It's meant to be simple." "I'm doing my best." She's just splicing wires essentially.

Yeah, I heard that. And I cringed HARD! bs_sign I guess that the writer did not want to explain too much how she could do it, so it turned into "simple".

I guess it works because they also reconnected Ash in Alien with a soldering gun.

Anyway...I'm glad they released this as a short. The less I know the less it will kill my suspension of disbelief. But I hope the rest of the story has less holes and makes more sense. I still want to see this sucker! biggrin

I'm just hoping that no one in the crew in "Covenant" will have really illogical motivations and behavior like what we saw with several members of the Prometheus crew.

I'm less worried about that than I am the notion that Prometheus removed the alien from Alien.

First of all, I still want to watch this.

I just talked to someone who saw it on the midnight show last night. I begged her not to disclose any spoilers, but to just let me know if she thought it was "good".

"If you did not like Prometheus, and all the logic and plot holes it had...you will absolutely hate Covenant. If you are OK with those for the sake the style and the look of the movie then you will be OK with it."

...she hated Prometheus if that was not evident by her comment.

(Paraphrasing my previous review, which I deleted because I thought I was judging it while being pissed and disappointed by my first viewing....NAAH!)

Review: THIS IS A STUPID MOVIE WITH STUPID CHARACTERS!

Also, it looks very nice....and the score is beautiful.

The End

Prometheus is better. Fassbender is not good in this and he is also not bad. Anybody could have given that performance. If you like the guy that is OK but don't tell me he is any good in this.

Discount aisle Ripley is not exciting or inspiring. You can see the horror tropes coming a mile away. The ProtoXeno effects were cheap and badly made.

Scott is doing a George Lucas and these are his prequels. He destroys the Alien canon and Xenomorph origin mystery. He metaphorically introduces Midiclorians in the Alien universe.

I fully expect the Alien to go "NOOOOOOO!" in the next movie.

This is just a bad attempt to have Prometheus and Alien in the same movie but without the engaging characters of Alien or the mystery in Prometheus. They did bring the stupid people back from Prometheus.

B-movie schlock at best.

3/10
