Some shots from the new game. Also, I spent my first hours going around to unlock weapons I wanted. Here are a few some might be interested in. You can match this to the map, or go around looking for the intel files to tell you where they are. If flying over these areas, watch out for the SAMs.
Gotta love mortars! Unless you were the one civilian hanging out with the enemy...

I've sneaked up on a lot of them. There is definitely swimming, but not diving under that I remember. One of the best things in this game: Wait for night to assault a base. The soldiers have their routines. Eventually several will go to bed and sleep. You've got your guys on overwatch, directing their sniping while you creep around taking everyone else out quietly. It's a great game when you play patiently, almost like a squad Splinter Cell game. Or go in guns blazing, but you miss the details like that. There have been a lot of bases with intel or an object I needed that I could sneak in and out of much easier than starting a fight that would likely go bad in some cases.
What was going on in that video is similar to several bases. They've got cages with the rebels. You can free them or shoot the lock (like the wild animals in Far Cry) and the'll find an ammo crate and start fighting. That base had a ton of them and they did most of the work. I really get a Clear and Present Danger vibe from this game. You run around quietly making mayhem and getting others to do the work for you. However, when it goes bad it goes REALLY BAD with the merc teams coming after you until you get away. If you noticed in that video I shot at the radio towers. There's a box on there that if you take it out they can't call for reinforcements. Also that video shows taking out the generator, which cut the power to the cages to release the prisoners, but also kills off lights in the area. Some tents will have their own small generators that can blow up too.
That sounds great. I noticed in the video you were shooting at a switch or something. What was that? Was that box you're talking about? A bad guy came out seemingly to investigate. Did he hear a suppressed shot or was it just coincidence that he came out?

They do dive, I was wrong. There is a box on the top of radio towers you shoot so they can't call out for help, but sometimes there is more than one tower.
On the ground enclosed in a fence was a large generator. It took out anything else, like the locks holding the prisoners, so they escaped and started fighting. Most times prisoners are in a small cage with a padlock you have to break or shoot open, but that mission was a little different.

Don't know the size of the map, but almost 40 hours into it, I've only closed out 2 of the 20(?) zones, explored at least some slightly, 12. 8 or so I haven't even set foot in. It goes from jungle to mountains, some snow to salt flats in the north east. Pretty good variety, although most is rocky desert. There's a lot going on, but not every village is the enemy.
Explosives, there are frags, grenade launcher, c4, mines, the drone can be outfitted with explosives or emp. Oddly, no rpg or shoulder fired missiles. There are SAMs in some zones to take you out flying and jammers to suppress your drone. Those can be blown or switched off. You can also call in mortar strikes, the more you develop that assist the larger the strike. You can also call in rebel reinforcements or spotters.
With the c4, you can throw out all you have, get more at an ammo crate and keep tossing out. They all blow together though.
I think it is several times (four, six?) that one of GTA5, roughly twice that one of ArmA3 and comparable for what the land mass is concerned, to the later Far Cry and Just Cause games.
Airplanes are now built to carry a pilot and a dog in the cockpit: the pilot's job is to feed the dog, and the dog's job is to bite the pilot if he touches anything...
Wow I just now remembered this...isn't there parachuting in this game? If so is it good, a la full control such as in GTAV? I seem to remember trailers with Ghosts sky diving. Those are beautiful shots Cheyenne. I love a desert environment. One of my favorite things to do is to just ride horseback in RDR in real time across the map and through the day/night cycle. Its a great escape and peaceful. Can't wait for RDR2. Bolivia is an amazingly beautiful place. If anyone is interested I recommend the movie "Blackthorn" with Sam Shepard. Its an honest to goodness Western filmed on location in Bolivia and its very good. One of those beautiful Westerns where the environment is actually very much a character itself in the movie.

Yes, there is a parachute, after you get that skill, but it's quick and easy to do. You can use it cliff diving, but I keep hitting a jutting rock first. LOL
